Default storage in the rear seat armrest - 2013 model

got a preowned 13 450h USA car w/ the SOS thing in the front, i realized the storage compartment (club holder compartment) of the rear seat arm rest cannot be opened. there is the lifting handle thing there and it looks like it could be opened but it is tightly shut/glued together. did some research on lexus site and looks like that storage is not available with the SOS thing in the front is installed.

i find it really stupid on lexus part. those are 2 different parts and it shouldn't be related to each other.

i wonder if anyone ever try forcing it open, i am afraid of breaking it. is the storage/cup holders inside?

thanks.

Your rear center armrest storage is glued shut? How odd.

I don't know what to tell you on that one. I've never heard of one being glued shut.

Sorry if it is obvious, but what is the "SOS thing"?

gianttama, I'm sorry you're not able to open the rear seat storage console. How long ago did you purchase your 450h? Definitely bring it back to the dealer to have them check it out. The only change made to that part that I'm aware of is later version RXs do not have wood on the storage cover. The SOS button (aka Safety Connect) has nothing to do with it. Good luck and please keep us posted.

My assumption was that, by "SOS thing" the OP was referring to the "SOS" help button (to call for emergency assistance) located up above the inside rear view mirror. It takes up the spot often used for a sunglasses holder.

That's pure rubbish.

Sounds like your compartment latch might be broken.

I've got the emergency assist button overhead and my 14 RX works just fine.

Not sure about anyone else but I'm curious what kind of treasure is locked inside.

My guess is... Gold coins or
chopped fingers...

I think the original poster was trying to identify his type of RX by saying it has an "SOS" button up front. When I read "up front", I thought of the front bumper area, but I guess he meant up front as opposed to "in the back". Sometimes people put two topics in one post and it's misleading. We have an SOS button on the ceiling where the sunglass holder should be, as mentioned earlier. The SOS button has NOTHING to do with the mention of the armrest storage compartment not opening. Also, gianttama, I'm not familiar with the term "club holder compartment". Golf clubs?
Our '11 RX has a latched lid just behind the cup holders. Are you by any chance not lifting the latch?
That would account for the compartment lid not opening. If you get the lid off, you will be disappointed. It's a shallow compartment suitable for ladies lipstick, and not much else.
Please let us know what the dealer says.
