"Lot Rot" on 2012 CPO RX350? - Help Needed!

Thanks for posting, happy endings are always nice to hear about.
Just wanted to say that this story had a happy ending!
Even though the rotors were turned and not replaced, I ended up taking the 2012 CPO RX350 to an independent mechanic who said the brakes (and the rest of the vehicle) were in excellent shape with at least 3 or 4 years on the brakes in normal driving conditions. Drove it for about two hours on the day of purchase (after Lexus servicing and independent mechanic inspection) with no observations other than it is an amazing drive, has an array of nice features, and fits my 6'3 frame very comfortably.
Your responses helped put my mind at ease and then take action with an independent mechanic. Perhaps one should not need to do so with a CPO, but I am very happy with the purchase and absolutely love my RX350. Thanks to all for your advice!

....how much...I am planning on selling my 2012 RX 350
....yes you should be carefull, if you don't mind how much are they selling the RX350, I am in NJ and I am thinking about trading mine witrh 32k and in perfect condition but I wonder if it will be better for me to sell it privately even if it is for less.....if you don't want to disclose selling price I appologize for asking...oh and good luck to you

Glad to hear of the happy ending. CPO doesnt cover brake pads, rotors or other wear and tear items so having that warranty doesnt guaranty 100% of the car. Just be aware.

Our RX developed the same brake problems at about 35,000 miles. We were the original owners and had not driven it hard. Resurfacing the rotors cured the problem. They replaced the pads a well and it was then good for another 75,000

Not all brake pulsation is caused by warped rotors. The fact that the vehicle sat on the lot in damp weather and perhaps unused for a long period of time can cause the rotors to rust and leave high points. This can cause the same pulsation as a warped rotor. Turning the rotors or "cleaning them up" is perfectly acceptable in this case as long as the min thickness is maintained and will not affect the life of the rotors to any great degree. I have a Kwik lathe and have turned a few rotors myself. Sounds like you got a very good vehicle.

It's a crapshoot buying any vehicle new or used. Moreso for used. CPO is not a magic shield protecting you. It's not like that's a rare vehicle. I'd pass no matter what. Sitting in a lot doesn't warp rotors. Why ask for trouble? Now, you kind of made a commitment and in writing no less, so I don't know what your options are. I'm not criticizing you in any way, nor the dealer for that matter, but why are you so hot hot to buy THIS particular car?
