Warranty extension query
We bought our 2013 450h new in Dec 2013. Yesterday we received a letter from 'Vehicle Services Department' in Plano, Texas telling us that we need to contact them if we want the opportunity to extend our warranty. This does not appear to be an official Lexus mailing. We hope to keep this car (which we love) for many years so extending the warranty makes sense. However, is this the Lexus-approved way to do so? I will ask our Lexus dealer service manager but this forum has been an excellent source of helpful information so I thought I would turn to the real experts first! Thank you very much indeed

All Lexus Warranties are the same.
What you received is likely one of the many different types of 3rd parties attempting to get you to buy an extended warranty. Some I have received in the past are extremely "well done" or "deceiving" -- depending on one's POV -- making you feel the communication and offer came from Lexus, but if you read carefully, you'll find it didn't.
My personal suggestion is you dispose of that letter in your recycle bin. If you become interested in an extended warranty, go with the Lexus version. There are a number of great threads here with discussion on pros/cons of an extended warranty that can be sourced from any Lexus dealership as well as some salespeople at some dealerships that will work via email/fax. Prices are set independently by each dealer, so it can vary. You'll also see references of "the best deals" from members in other threads for your consideration.
Enjoy that 450h. I sure do!

Thank you< BertL, that is most helpful and that is exactly what we will do (ignore this rather threatening letter and go directly to Lexus)
