Default Sliding Arm Rest

The sliding arm rest/storage bin cover in my 2013 RX sticks. When I'm driving and try to move it forward it won't budge unless I hit the back of it (which is hard to do when keeping one hand on the steering wheel!). When I've dropped by the dealer (3 hours from my home), of course, it doesn't stick. But when I'm back on the highway, it sticks. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, can you give me some things to check to correct this?

Thanks much!

When you pull up the lever to unlock the armrest and allow it to move forward, could you possibly be opening the lid enough to make it "stick"?

Mine seems fine... You should open the storage compartment and clean the groove/track that the armrest slides in. Maybe there is something that is causing it to bind occasionally..

Had this very issue on our 2013 RX, too.
Arm rest sliding cover was replaced under warranty. Dealer had to order the part.

Make sure you don't have something in the sliding tray that sticks up high enough to interfere with the sliding cover. I accidentally did that and was baffled for a while why my arm rest would not slide. Glad I figured it out before returning to the dealer.

Was going to recommend the exact thing Ken did. And with the off chance it just 'sticks', see if you can figure out where the bind is and with a Q-tip, place a small dollop of Vaseline there. May cure the issue with a home remedy.

just check the wifes rx350. Yes, it slides easily once you depress the lever.

Default Dealer Verified Issue

And ordered a replacement cover. The dealer's "loaner" also has the same sticking cover.

Default Rx

The lid on my Rx 2010 slide without issue. However, the front edge started to show wear. Took to Lexus in Clearwater Fl and the traveling repair guy fixed that day for $50. Looked like new but just how durable?

I just happened to have some 99% matching leather hide sitting around so with a good utility stapler and some contact glue, made a super job in a new cover. My son now has this RX so if my leather job wears, he will be just a few minutes ago from having a new looking storage lid.

I don't think the lid on the RX2015 is a slider.

And it slides on my 2010, so all Gen III models are 'sliders' w/o ketchup & mustard
