Default 2015 vs waiting for 2016

Is the 2016 RX coming in March of 2015. My 2012 lease ends in April but I am seeing rumors of a big price increase on the 2016. Further complicating this is Lexus is offering to forgive 3 lease payments. What if you don't have 3 months left? do you lose the benefit? if so leasing a 2015 makes more sense. Is anyone aware of other lease incentives on the 2015 in the Chicago area. Does anyone have insider type information on the release of the 2016.

I'm not an insider ... but, a few things should be obvious. Lexus probably is not going to be discounting the 2016's until long after your lease expires. Also, the 2015's are going to have huge discounts to move them. I don't lease, but it has been my understanding that for the last couple of years Lexus has been letting people upgrade their leases months before they actually expire. I have a friend that has been taking advantage of these early lease returns.

Thanks, I am hoping someone knows if the 2016 is coming out in March. Because if its September I would have to consider extending my lease.

I would wait for the 2016's . Why lease the same thing again.

The latest new model Lexus offerings since the CT were all late in the year or early next year.

The fact that the NX is just starting to ship with more volume and sales expected to ramp up in Q1 2015, from a marketing standpoint, it makes little sense to take away from the NX's thunder with a spring offering of the new RX. Expect late 2015.

2015 RX released in April, 2014. Look for new generation RX 2016 in April, 2015.

That's what I am thinking. Why would you let the older model run 17-18 months.

Assuming he would like the new model... from what I read the 2016 will be larger and more expensive so it is differentiated from the NX, might be too big for some current RX owners.

Let's save speculation on the 2016 RX for these threads:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/car...eculation.html

MARQEVANS, now is probably one of the best times to look for a lease deal on the 2015 RX with December to Remember. Stock should be good too. The best thing to do is check with the dealer to see what they could do about your current lease if you want to get into a '15. I've never done it myself. And maybe subscribe to the above threads for updates. The fourth gen RX forum will be created when it gets closer to launch. Good luck whatever you decide.

OK but those threads are all over the place. There really should be a speculation thread specific to each model.

Well I just talked to my dealer and he is quoting a lease close to $75.00 a month higher for a car without NAV than my 2012 with NAV. Something about no longer being able to give a sales tax credit on my old car like they used to. This would be my 8th RX and I have always been able to keep the payment between $530 and $550 with nothing down. My 2012 was the first one I leased with NAV and only a 12,000 per year lease. All my others were 15,000 per year leases. May have to seriously consider the NX.

Over time dealerships can get greedy and this sounds like the case. They are familiar to your loyalty and are convinced you will just pay a little more.

I recommend shopping at another dealership.

The price range you mentioned is what is fair and reasonable for an ‘15 RX350 AWD with Navigation and at 15K per year.

Default Buy at 2015 RX 350 or wait for 2016?

I'm a new member on this forum and am considering buying a new 2015 RX 350 but from what I've found in the internet the 2016 is supposed to be out in the spring, perhaps at early as March.

From what I've read it will be a bit larger, and priced about $5,000 higher as a starting price. New exterior and interior styling along with a touch screen. Some nice improvements but the increased price would likely a reason for pause. Plus we all know how "new model year" vehicles can be. Anyway I'm open to all thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks, Ken

At this point in time, I don't think there is any solid info on the new 2016 RX or when they will be available. What you can count on is that it will show up and become available at sometime during the year. Lexus often does not discount new models for a while after they are introduced, but eventually deals will show up. Cars being closed out, like the 2015 RX, can have discounts of $5k or even up to $7k. Personally, I would be surprised if Lexus jacked up the price by $5k on the new model. $1k wouldn't surprise me. I think it is pretty safe to say that if you try and buy a new RX at intro, it will cost you $6k+ over the 2015 because you won't get the steep discounting. It may be bad advice, but I would just wait for the discounting on the 2016 ... and that may be a year from now.
