Rather minor "oops!", no one hurt other than some pride. We all have them. Not much on a car that cannot be repaired.

Another story for another day: Ask me about the time my own Colonel drove the Odyssey minivan into the parking garage. After the first "clunk" she realized the car-top carrier was still on the roof ! First spot she could find was 3 floors up.

Thanks for the understanding. I like the decal suggestion. My wife was trying to do too much at once and the result was not checking everything before reversing. Got a call from the collision people today and they say they will probably have to replace the sensors on the hatch that prevent an errant hand from being crushed. The sensors will probably be damaged when transferring from the old hatch to the new one. Insurance covers this, but I was surprised to learn they are $510 EACH! The hatch was only $770! No problem matching the paint. It should be finished Friday. I will let everyone know the cost of the repair for comparison purposes.

You are right. Unable to find any real damage to the garage door. Now I know what "Crumple zone" means.

Always look to see if the rear hatch door is open/up before getting into the car as well as checking all other signals and warnings. I found my rear hatch door open this morning in the garage. I'm sure I did not leave it open. Must have leaned on the open button in my pocket???

Picked up our "Red Ruby" from the shop a few hours ago. They did a marvelous job. Like they say on the commercials, looks "Like it never happened". Pictures tomorrow.
I have the old parts, except for the hatch. A while back, I remember someone needed an X for the hatch because his was lost at a car wash. If he doesn't have the X, I'll be glad to send him all the old letters.
AAA $4,600 + my $500 + $70 CDW on the rental car.
Anecdote: Repair shop said an RX just like ours, but different color came in right after me with the same incident. Must be something in the water around here.

X2 on the great news of your repair and having it done by a good shop. Looking forward to the photos.

Also nice 'paying it forward' gesture to anyone who may need the 'X' . B/Z

Looks like brand new! I too have had several small incidents with my single-car garage and my '10 RX. Seriously, if I didn't have to deal with so much tree sap, I would just leave the RX outside!

Luckily, for me they're small scratches and scrapes, although I plan to look into having them fixed in the near future.
