fender question for veteran
Hello Gentlemen,
My fiancé somehow managed to damage my front left fender of our 2014 rx350. I popped the dent but it creased I am looking to just swap it out but I am not sure if all of the third gen models have interchangeable fenders. Any knowledge on the matter?
Best regards,
Ed

Different part numbers. Part numbers can differ for minor reasons, even the colour of the primer.
You might ask the dealer or their body shop. Probably need both off the car to compare visually side by side.
Search the 3rd Gen forum a bit. A few here have swapped their '10-'12 models to a later '13-'14 grille. Not sure if the sheet metal is the same.

It probably would be cheaper to fix the fender. The new one comes unpainted. The cost of the removal +installation of the new one+paint is going to be over $1K easyly.
I'd say that if you live in a big city and can find a good body shop it will be about $600
I remember my friend fixed his old volvo's bent fender for $300 but it was a few years back and he did not care about the pain match/quality.

Is this a deal breaker for the engagement? Probably not.
My fiancé lost the 1 carat diamond out of her engagement ring at a gas pump. We found it on the floor of the car. Lucky us. Married 17 years now.
Anyway, I recommend having the fender repaired at a reputable local shop for probably less than a thousand. Good luck with the car repair and the upcoming marriage. Please keep us posted.

Per your initial post, your fiance had a mis-hap. Just wait until the teenagers start driving. I've put countless fenders & bumper skins on a number of Civics over the years. Wow.......really starting to date my self.
Don't know, it just appeared there...............probably someone else in the parking lot. Honestly, at times they had no idea.
Other times it was " Hey dad, brought you a Tim's, got a minute ?
Like you mentioned, buy a good used piece & paint it if you have to. I don't have a lot of faith in after-market sheet metal.

If no paint was removed and it was just a dent then give paintless dent removal (PDR) a try. Then again you went ahead and try to remove the dent yourself so not sure PDR would be useful w/ the creases in your fender now. Post a pic when you can and we can tell you if PDR can remove it.
