Default exhaust smell in cabin

Hi.

I have a 2014 RX 350. I have noticed an intermittent issue with exhaust smells coming into the cabin when the car is on recirculate and I am at highway speed. It happens when I am first accelerating after I've entered the freeway. If I get the odor, I can make it go away by briefly hitting the recirc/fresh button to bring in fresh air for a few moments.

This doesn't happen driving around town.

Any thoughts?

If it happens on recirculate, it shouldn't. I'd head on down to the dealer and get it checked out.
Welcome to the forum BTW

Yeah, see, that's the thing. I took it in once and told them and they looked at me like I was talking crazy.

Told me that they didn't see anything wrong and when they drove it (once) it didn't do it.

errera, sorry you're experiencing the smell. You can try having another dealer check it out. Sometimes it's a matter of finding the person who is familiar with the problem, assuming there is one. In the meantime it is on record with Lexus. Good luck and keep us posted.

Recirculation of exhaust gases can cause carbon monoxide poisoning, a potentially fatal condition. And you won't know it when it happens. Better to do thorough check up now.

The dealer should be able to test for carbon monoxide and keep the car till it is fixed if levels are dangerous.
