when i push the button on the dashboard to open ...nothing ...I have to use the remote ?

Are the doors unlocked? The tailgate won't open using the dash button if it's locked.

Yes, press the door unlock button first. Also, the engine must be off. I have walked around twice now to get something out of the back while the engine was running and the door just won't open. I guess a nice safety feature but certainly different than our 2002 Highlander. FYI, conversely, if you leave the rear door open you CAN start the RX and drive off with the door up. (Don't ask me how I know that.)

Just in case, when you say "push the button", are you holding it for about 2 seconds? Otherwise, it won't open...
