Default When listening to a podcast on the iphone...

I cannot get the sound to come thru the car speakers. I tried USB/Aux and that did not even work. Music comes thru OK, but not podcasts. WEIRD. I would really like to do this. Do I need a special type of cable? Any podcast listeners out there who have succeeded at this?

I have the 2012 RX-350 stock stereo.

Thanks much.

It works for me. I listen to them regularly on my 2013 RX. That's using an iPhone 5 with latest iOS and the Apple Podcast app.

I did find the volume is wonky on the USB connection (Podcasts play very very quietly even though music on same connection does not); but if I listen via Bluetooth it sounds perfectly normal.

I have the same phone etc, but the 2012. I will try again and see what happens. It has been awhile since I tried. VERY frustrating when it does not work for no apparent reason

No joy. Do I need a cable to attach it? A lightening to USB or something like that?

This is just the silliest damn problem. The phone seems to be paired properly and works great with the voice dialing feature. I can even get music to play thru car speakers, just not a podcast, which is the only thing I want to listen to.

iPhone is all updated and is the 5. WEIRD.

If the dealer was not 80 miles away, I would be all over them

Are you sure there is nothing wrong with the podcast itself?

Have you tried plugging in some headphones on the iPhone and confirming that you can listen to the podcast that way with no issues?

Yes, thanks. The podcast continues to play thru the iphone's speakers, so the sound is not "in" the car yet

I would try reconnecting the Bluetooth audio stream between the car and the iPhone. This is how I listen to podcasts (through my ipad) and it works flawlessly.

If you can't get Bluetooth to work, then use USB cable to connect the aux input to the iPhone.

Is the podcast a video podcast or audio only? Would that make a difference?

I have a 2012 too. Started the podcast on the iPhone, got in the car started it and clicked on the bluetooth tab in audio and the podcast started playing and all title information showed on the car's display.

Have you tried rebooting phone? Hold the home button and power button until silver apple shows up and then release buttons.

Thanks all. I for sure have tried rebooting. No joy. I am going to disconnect any current connection with the car and try all over again. Even USB would be fine if it worked. I will post in a day or 2 with results. Thanks.

Big joy! I was in the car, and tuning on the podcast before I got out for my walk. I noticed that the podcast was not coming thru the iPhone speakers as per usual.

I thought it was broken. I then slid up the main menu from the bottom of screen by accident and saw that it was connected to the car system. Hmmm.

So I pushed AUX/USB and thought I heard a faint sound. Sure enough, I cranked up the volume in the CAR and as if my magic, my podcast was coming thru the car system!

And when I get in and out as usual, it reconnects and I have Podcast!

I could not be happier as I really enjoy podcasts more than any other media for my information these days.

Mostly WordPress business/programming podcasts.

So, not sure what changed, maybe the volume was just too low before.

Thanks for all your help! Podcasting nirvana achieved!
