Rear Seat Room
Can you comfortably seat 3 average sized adults in the back comfortably for long distances? My IS is a 5 seater but there's no way you'd be able to spend any meaningful amount of time in the center rear seat.

^ yes. As long as we're on the same page about " average".
The flat floor in the middle ( vs the hump commonly seen on RWD Cars/SUVs) is the key here.
My usual set up is 2 average adults on both sides and a large rear facing baby car seaf in the middle.
And everyone is comfy, so im confident 3 average adults is easy peasy!

Yes, definitely. My sister-in-law has commented several times how much more comfortable the middle seat area in my 2010 Third-gen RX is compared to her 2007 Second-gen RX.
