Default Fixing my No Power Point 2010 RX problem

As we with the lack of power points ( 12v power supplies) in the early 3rd generation RXs, I got fed up with it today and began digging around and found me a fix for it.

I messed around and found that the top of the main console can be taken off pretty easy by unscrewing the shifter know and then taking a butter knife the top of the console can be unsnapped pretty easy and lifted away. As you do you will find 4 electrical connectors that can easily be unhooked. There is also a small support clip on the wire harness to be unclipped from the top.

Now I take a 12v extension wire that has a male and female end on it. Cut off the female end and the male end will go into the power point at the bottom of the center console and this is used to power the new points. A hole is drilled to feed this wire into the area exposed then you remove the top of the console. A check of Ebay got me a nice looking 12v power outlet which is now spliced onto the wire where the female connector had been cut off of. Now in the area near the passengers left knee a hole that will match the diameter of the new power outlet needs to be drilled. After all is installed, you now have a available 12v power point. Pretty easy job taking less than a hour and less than 20 bucks. Too easy!!

And I could say it a hundred times and it wouldn't have said it enough but the team that designed the inside of the 2010 RXs should not have a job with Lexus. They are dumber than a box of rocks

If that is your only complaint regarding product planning, then you are very lucky.

Another member just posted a 12V install/retro-fit on his RX. He used a factory piece from an '11 or a '12.
12V outlet at the bottom of the console in the exposed area.
Looks factory as he used factory parts.

Was able to find that post in that certainly is the best fix. Thanks a lot

cdestuck,
What you did was exactly what I was about to do to mine.
My wording could have been better on my earlier comment.
In no way was I trying to critique your work.

Cheers,
