Default Hood Alignment Issue - Pic Attached

Hi all,

I'm a bit new around here and was hoping for a little help/guidance. I have done a forum search on "hood gap and alignment issues" but can't find one similar to mine.

We have a 2010 RX350. It is just out of warranty a couple of months.

Recently my wife noticed that the driver's side of the hood at the rear hinge is "raised", for lack of a better term, and that the gap in the hood seam is larger than on the other side (see pics).

She actual brought this up by saying, "I think someone hit my car at the airport". But in walking the car, there is no trace of a scratch, dent, etc. It's perfectly fine. We took it to the Lexus dealership and he said (of course), "we've never seen this before". And then, "would you like our body shop to repair it? I'll find out what it will cost since it's out of warranty." To which I said "no!"

So my question for those knowledgeable in auto body issues is does this appear to be a hinge issue? I know that this is the thickest and most heavy duty part of the hood. I would assume to "push up" the hood from an impact, it would have to be a decent blow - certainly enough to leave a mark. Right?

Any advice would be very helpful. I believe it's a manufacturing issue but before returning to the dealership to try and get them to fix it for free, I thought I would ask for opinions.

Thanks in advance for the help!

looks more like someone slammed the hood closed with something small (but heavy) still in the engine bay.

Have you checked condition of the hinges or attaching hardware between hood/hinge/inner fender ?

My body shop has a metal working specialist. Someone like that could fix this problem. Check under the hood make sure the problem isn't something simple. But if you still don't understand what is going on, get a quote from a quality body shop. I can't tell from your photos whether the hood is bent. If it is not, then you just need the hood adjusted.

Looks like somebody stepped on the hood at the edge near the windshield.
