How to drive RX 350 with a trailer
Does anyone know which gear I should use - D or S mode - for towing a u haul trailer? I read somewhere that I shouldn't use D, but I really don't know how to use S. Just put the gear stick to S and drive? Should I keep an eye on engine RPM?
I know this is dumb question but I really don't know as I have only learned driving automatic . I bought a towing hitch and wire connector and put them on myself yesterday.
Thanks a lot!

D mode. It is an automatic. Leave it in D and let the computer do the work. I have towed many trailers with several vehicles, including the RX350. I always just leave them in Drive or D.
S will make the engine rev more as it limits the top gear to 5 instead of 6 unless you shift manually. That is unnecessary, and sucks more gas.
There is no need to shift manually when towing. You have enough to deal with paying attention to the trailer behind you, thinking about that extra length when changing lanes and turning etc. It is not the time to learn how to shift an automatic transmission manually!

I heard it's tricky to back up a car with a trailer - you have to do the opposite to what you'd without the trailer when turning the wheel. I plan to practice it before I drive off the U haul lot.

Keep your steering hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. When backing, move your hand in the direction you want the trailer to go. Remember to give the trailer a bit of time/space to actually turn.
Bit of practice you'll be an expert.
