Default 2015 RX Sportdesign and new Pricing (Canada)

Hmm... So as I'm keeping a close eye on the new NX, I felt the NX would be priced in Canada starting around 38K Cdn or so (like the IS). However, I'm having second thoughts now because of the large bump in price of the '15 RX. The base '15 RX is now the "RX SportDesign" which has the F-Sport-like front bumper like the Sport Appearance package offered in the US from 2013. The price also jumps $4.5K though power leather seats with memory is the main difference and is now standard. The F-Sport jumps about $3.5K.

With all this said, I have two new theories from this simple yet aggressive price bump. 1. Lexus is making room to price the NX appropriately. What will it be, possibly the low 40Ks? 2. Lexus is making the transition to an even more premium and possibly larger 7-passenger '16 RX...

corrado, time for you to move to the US, LOL! Not only will the RX be cheaper, you'll get more options. As for the NX, your guess is better than mine. And count me out if the RX gains a third row next gen. I don't want to drive a bus!

I think the RX stays about the size it is with only fractional increases. Wait for either a GX replacement or another unibody platform SUV to be added above the RX in 2018. There is already a Highlander of the necessary configuration to base it off of.

The major difference between the 2014 F Sport version and the 2015 F Sport is the Series 2 package option package for the 2014 model.

The 2014 F Sport Edition in Canada, there was a standard model and only 1 package available for update: "Series 2, which consists of: 15 Speak ML, 7.1 Surround, Intuitive parking assist, Heads-up display and Blind spot monitor.

The 2015 F Sport, its all lumped in as a standard package.

The price MSRP between the Series 2 on the 2014 and the 2015 is about $50 ($58850 vs $58900).

^^^ yep, true. I think though Lexus is being strategic here to justify raising the "base" price in 2015 for the next RX so that in 2016 they can list a "base" F-Sport at $60K with similar equipment as the 2015 but offer new options like Lane Keep Assist, maybe an Adaptive Variable Suspension, and so on.
