Traded a 2RX for a new RX for wife last week. While she is not super excited about the car, she said her next vehicle would be a 4RX! She had her 2RX for seven good years. Had a battery problem once and one brake service that cost about 2K. The back door recently wanted to close on its own. Other than that just gas, oil change and go. It's sure not boring for her. It's a great car just not for everyone.

Second thoughts are always with 20/20 vision. No rose coloured glasses. Car sold early July. Buyer drove it home over 1000 miles away. Will be taking it to Florida to a Summer home where it will stay. "Would love to have that car now..........too."

If you were to ask me a few years back when I was driving my 2007 RX, I would have said, "YES, most boring car I have ever owned!" ...I have been driving SUVs for the past 20+ years...2 Explorers, Mercedes ML, 2 BMW X5s, then the RX...I had buyers remorse almost immediately...I had buyers remorse for the first few years...then, as the car aged, while I started appreciating its reliability/dependability, I also looked longingly at other SUVs...particularly the X5...a few weeks ago, I was at a turning point with my RX and decided rather than putting several thousand dollars into repairs, I was going to pull the plug and get a new car...I ended up getting a 2015 RX...I couldn't be happier! I think the styling of the new one, the fatter steering wheel and the way the new one drives closes the gap between Lexus and the "sportier" competitors...they did a great job keeping the old ladies happy and appealing to a younger audience (I can only imagine how many people I offended with that comment! lol )

I am taking delivery of a used 2011 RX 350 this afternoon. I don't mind kinda boring if this suv gives me reliability. After having owned a 2001 Boxster for three years which basically has only given me one CEL light I consider myself lucky. As the winter months approach I look forward to a vehicle which should be more suitable(I have read the snow tire recommendation).
Cheers, Guy.

I had a 5 series BMW for 11 years. Talk about a boring car. If you want an exciting car, get a miata. I had one for 15 years. Lol.

Never introduced myself on here yet. Hi, I'm Steven and this is my first Lexus/SUV due to my new born son.

Yes, it’s really dull and bland driving the Lexus rx350, but it’s one of the most comfortable vehicles that I've owned. Coming from owning nothing but manual, 2 doors, convertible, 2 seats cars (12) (e46 M3, s2000, and etc.) So far, the rx350 had been good to me. Have everything I ever wanted in a SUV (it’s fully loaded). Maintenances are cheaper than what I have been used to paying, including insurance (close to $100 cheaper monthly). Might keep the rx350 for a while as a daily, but want to buy a weekend car (c6/c7 z06 corvette, e46/e90 m3, m5's, is-f, or Porsche 911 turbo) for a weekend car down the line "to make me feels alive sometime"

Congrats on both accounts!

For feeling "alive", get a c2 corvette. Forget that new stuff.

I have owned at least 20 pick ups and all were tricked out. The last was 2004 f-150 and it rode and drove like a dream but after 10 years and only 80 thousand miles I got sick of fixing it. We have also owned a few BMW's , a couple of Audi's( one was a rs6) and this used rx is a thing of joy. Does it handle like some of the hot German cars we owned NO but as far as I am concern it blows them all away in comfort and the days of running Pats Peak are way over for me anyway and lugging ladders and 20' 2x12's.

Excitement is in the eye of the beholder. After years of fixing American and German cars, the thought of getting into a reliable car, lots of power, no worries, lookin' good and having great resale value gets me excited.

I'm sorta biased cause I sell them but I am no truck lover by any stretch of the mind.
But, I would buy a RX350 in a heartbeat if I were an suv guy. Smooth, reliable and easy to drive. Of course I'd get the manly version...the F-Sport or at least the sport appearance package. Then I'd slap some 21's on it and enjoy.

I wouldn't say the RX350 is necessarily a boring car - rather it feels numb and disconnected from the road. Nonetheless, it still has plenty of tech goodies on board to keep me occupied.

My wife and I have completely different driving preferences. She prefers a soft ride with very smooth steering which is why her daily is the RX. On the other hand, I want to be able to feel the grains in the pavement and have an extremely tight steering response.

When we went shopping, the first car we drove was an X3 (2008 so the 1 generation old body style). I certainly liked the feel of it better than the RX, but it was older and lacking technology. After driving that and a 2nd gen RX, my wife insisted on narrowing down the search to focus on cars more like the RX.

In the end, we found a very under priced 3rd gen RX which we ended up buying. The 3rd gen had a lot more tech on board and the interior was much nicer which made me happy so it was an easy decision.

So is the car boring from my perspective? If I'm driving it - absolutely. If I'm riding passenger - absolutely NOT.
