Default LED or HID Fogs

My RX came with the Xenon HID headlights upgrade, which is great.

But the fogs are standard yellowish color.

Which is better for the fog lights, LED or Xenon HID?

Pros / Cons?

Much of this has already been discussed here:

Honestly, I wouldn't waste your money upgrading the fogs unless you use them "American style." The OEM fogs function perfectly when used in the appropriate weather conditions and will not blind you or other nearby drivers. Take the money and put it towards a few nice dinners instead with your s/o.

As an alternative to the above two suggestions, consider LED bulb pair replacement only which is much cheaper from one of our vendor sponsors: http://hidpowerhouse.com/shop/led-foglights-white/

A suggestion is not to get the 6K bulbs (get 5K) unless you prefer the fogs being whiter/bluish than your regular lights.

How about trying a different halogen bulb like Philips Diamond Vision? They're 5000K with an ever so slight bluish hue. The cost was $50, comparable to LED bulbs and cheaper and easier to install than HID. I went with them after trying HID (times 2) and LED bulbs. If Sewell carried the LED fog lights a few years ago, no doubt I would've gotten them. It just doesn't make sense to change them now since I'm happy with the Philips.

On the left VLEDS LED bulb and Philips Diamond Vision halogen bulb on the right.

I plan on putting OEM LED fogs into mine at some point. I wouldn't put an HID bulb into a halogen housing because HIDs require a different reflector due to its spread-out light pattern.

vlad_a makes a valid point about HID bulbs in Halogen reflector housing. Aside from being glaring, i do believe they are illegal.

If only people would realize what a fog light is for. Use them if there is fog. Otherwise leave them off.

Afraid not as it continues to be a ego thing. Many run with their fog lights on all the time.

That includes Toyota engineers. Because you want the fog lights to be on without the headlights.

I've had 3 different types of lights in my Fogs.

1st - Standard 4300k Halogen bulb, matched the HIDs well but wasn't as bright.
2nd - 4300k Morimoto HIDs, was pretty bright but didn't like how the lighting spread
3rd - (Keeping) OEM LED Fogs. Cutoff is great, lighting is even and it's pretty bright and it'll last forever (I hope)

I keep the fog lights on with the LED headlights because they're not that bright alone. I can assure you it's not to be obnoxious.

I'm partial with your 3rd choice as well. And as a bonus, its legal, plug-and-play and it gets Lexus warranty

after adding it to my car, I have absolutely no regrets

I like old school 3k HID fogs lights, I'm only using it during fog season....

I have 3000K HID fogs as well and run them down here in Florida because it's always raining and without the 3000k I can't see whats ahead during light to heavy rain. The only issues I have with running HID fogs is I already went threw 2 sets of bulbs because they burn out after 4-8 months of use
