I'd say there is more than $1K/Year of potential savings.
Maybe. Maybe not. I know people who would kill to only be paying $5K per year for auto (on three vehicles), home, and flood insurance. There are parts of FL where you have to have flood insurance for your mortgage and with the recent upheaval in federal underwriting folks with $100K homes were getting hit with $10K per year flood insurance policy renewals.

FWIW, CT is the 13th most expensive state on average for car insurance. FL is 10th. Your OH, vlad_a, is the cheapest. Take your vehicle to MI, where the rates are the most expensive, and you might pay some $1500 more on average per year in car insurance.

Can't complain about living in OH.
My insurance is dirt cheap, hence why I'm in shock that people spend this much.

Many of us have little choice. Luckily, I have very decent rates when compared to many, but I still pay hefty insurance bills. Unfair for you to compare your situation to others without knowing more facts. My homeowner's insurance may be much more expensive than others due to location, the size of the home and property insured, and the amount of its contents. Someone in OH is going to pay much less than someone in FL in regards to vehicle insurance. Move my property and assets 30 miles any direction and my rates would probably quadruple due to various factors to include crime rates. Amazing how your zip code can make such a big difference.

My friend and his wife recently relocated from CT to Charlotte.

He just told me he now pays $850/yr for an RX and an Accord combined. He said it was a huge drop from what he was paying here in CT.

So where you live matters a lot.

I agree, and the nicer the neighborhood, the CHEAPER.
Yup, cheaper.

I have lived in New Britain CT and then West Hartford CT.
My premium went down $450/6 months for basically the same car and coverage.

I understand that it takes more than 15 minutes to find the BETTER deal when it comes with insurance companies, BUT as a consumer, you don't have to have them ALL in one basket.

As i've mentioned, all our insurance are spread out.
We also have an umbrella insurance, $400/yr for a $5,000,000 coverage
and as long as you meet the minimum requirements ( from the other insurance) you're fine.

$5,000 just for insurance? Wow! That's a lot of dough.

Actually my friend moved from New Britain to Charlotte.
Remember that $5k/yr includes 3 cars and a house and an umbrella policy.
Its not just cars.
