Default Window Tinting - Dealer melted door leather :(

Brand New RX350 F Sport

21st February 2014
Front windows tinted by dealership.
Result not good - lots of creases/air bubbles in both windows.
Manager agreed unacceptable and both windows needed to be redone.

Friday 7th March 2014
Driving away I notice melted/damage to the interior leather on both doors.
I turnaround and go back. Management now "out to lunch". No one knowing how it happened.
5 days later I am STILL waiting for a call back.

My guess - They used a heat gun to remove the first film.

Disappointing. Grrrrrrr

It looks like they use the heat gun on that area for too long. The air bubbles will disappear, just park your RX in the sun. Attica is that the front or the rear window?

Expect a fight.
That's an expensive screw up.

The people they hired were incompetent. Probably, same people were involved in "fixing" their original mistake. Ideally, they should have taken off plastic panels. But judging by their skill set, they would have scratched them in the process anyway.

Call Lexus corporate! 800-25LEXUS. That will get more traction for your case. What you got is unacceptable.

If it were me, I would not be waiting for a return call. I would be placing numerous phone calls to the GM and others, and would probably be sitting on their front door step right now. Be vigilant and force the solution. I am concerned that they are just waiting it out, hoping you'll either forget or learn to accept it. And you should do neither.

If you don't want to hound them with phone calls or visits, you should call and complain to the number that vlad_a provided.

Good luck.

Attica, sorry to hear about the damage. It's time to escalate. Give Lexus Corporate a call. That's no way to treat a customer. If my SA saw that kind of damage to my RXh, heads would roll. And the service manager would remove door panels from another RX and replace them on the spot. Make sure you get a few extras for your inconvenience. Please keep us posted.

I know the dealer is responcible but it is possible they took it to a 3rd party to install the tint.

It is not uncommon.

You need to escalate this to the Regional Service Manager if they do not make this right!

I can't imagine that their would be any discussion other than "We are very sorry this happened, the new door panels are ordered and on there way, we will refund your money and here's a $ credit at our parts department for your troubles!"

And it looks like there's a scratch on the metal frame as well in picture 1.

I work full time so unfortunately I don't have the time to sit on their doorstep. Having already taken time off work for the window tinting visits.

I think I am more disappointed with the way I saw them driving my F sport. Flooring it in the car park and taking a corner. Unnecessary. The lack of vehicle care im experiencing does concern me.

I will give them until tomorrow then try and find someone more senior to contact.

Message the company that owns the dealership. I had some mess ups with my Lexus RX upon delivery. Called the guy who owns the dealership and I got EVERYTHING done with no questions asked. They even fired the guy who sold me the car because of his screw up.

I would see no other way than to go get my AR-15 for driving like that. Pathetic really. They should be fired on the spot for that type of thing.

Note: I do not have an AR-15
