Default Climate: Recirculating vs Fresh Air?

Whenever I start the car, the air intake is set to recirculating mode. I want it set to fresh air mode, as I always want a fresh air flow into the car. I do use the Auto setting.

Is there any way to make the "fresh air" setting stick? (I could not find any customization feature that seemed relevant to this.)

Try setting the temperature to 68~70 degrees F or the equivalent in Centigrade.
Our recirculation light comes on whenever we go below 68 degrees. It's been explained on this forum, but I just don't get it.
The only time we want recirc is when we are behind a stinky diesel truck.

Our temps are set to 72 and 76, but outside air temp is about 80. Maybe the computer thinks it can reach the target temp faster by cooling the interior air than by cooling the fresh air? But I still want fresh air except, as you say, when behind a diesel bus or truck.

I used a better search term and found a long thread on this. I'll go read it now....

To quote DunWkg from the long thread, "And that is in regular mode, in ECO mode in the hybrid I don't think you can ever know what [the HVAC system] is going to do."

I'll just watch more to see if it switches automatically to fresh air after a while and hope that I achieve contentment with what it is doing, if not understanding.

I thought that this was pretty well programed into the computer by Lexus. It makes sense to use the recirculate mode at first until the vehicle achives the temp you desire and then switch to fresh air mode.

Thanks. I never left it in recirc long enough to see the automatic change-over. i'll try it.

I just watch the button lights and override its decision upon startup. It is not as bad as the AC that is hidden in the navigation menu.
