1st time post! New owner of 2014-RX350. I have figured out most stuff simply using the owners manual (go figure), but this one continues to stump me, as I have repeated the procedure right out of the owners manual without success.

Manual states to have only one fob or card present, car in park, "ignition on" position (I interpret this as two pushes to the ignition switch), push desired memory button and hold while pushing either lock or unlock button till chime sounds. I get the chime. But when I lock the door, wait a minute, and unlock the door by touching the handle, the car unlocks just fine, but seat does nothing. When I manually push L2 (in my case), the seat does indeed move into position. But I cannot for the life of me get this function to work.

I've got a call into the tech specialist, but thought I'd try and ask real owners! Any advice?

Hi,
You will need to unlock the car using your remote, that will move the seat to the preset position linked to the remote.

When we first picked up the car from the dealer, this feature worked, but since, I reset the memory to have the climate control turned on with the unlocking of the doors. That now works fine, but now the seat position does not set with unlocking of the doors. In other words, I did not need to push any buttons to have the seats go to the memory position, just touch the door handle.

Thanks for the link.. It says "Turn the “POWER” switch to ON mode". Which power switch?

Im a little confused with what you want to happen anc what you're doing.
The movement of the seats to memory position, is not related to unlocking/locking of the doors.
Using/removing your seatbelt WILL DO THAT. Same with the steering wheel and the side mirror position.

So, whether i OPEN the RX doors with the remote or by simply touching the handle, it will do nothing to the seat position. ONCE i put my seatbelt, whether the ignition is ON or OFF, The memory function will do its job.

Up until a couple days ago, if I had the smartkey in my pocket, if I touched the door, it would unlock, AND the seat would move to my memory position. Furthermore, the manual has instructions to support this feature, so I know it's there! Somehow, when I reprogrammed the memory to accept the heat settings (which did work), the seat memory is no longer linked to the keyfob. But it DID work before!

I agree "markrivers" that the memory seating position only activates when you click and un click your seat belt and whether or not the ignition is on or off. It absolutely does nothing when you simply lock and un lock with the fob or touching the door handles.

It is about matching the seat setting to the fob used when unlocking the door. One fob selects setting 1 other fob setting 3 without needing to press the setting button.

is it unique to a 2014? i have a 2013.. hmm maybe it's new together with the SIRI eye.
anyway, i understand what your saying, but i'm still trying to figure out the "practicality" of what you wanted.

Basically, you want to move the seat and the steering wheel to your SET position, even before you climb up/enter the vehicle. Right? But isn't that counter productive? especially for people who have their seats way too close to the steering wheel?

The logic of the moves with the clicking/un clicking of the seatbelt, is to provide you with the most spacious room possible to help with entry and exit, especially for the large and very large individuals.

Anyway, i'll try to find the manual, and i'll get back to you if i have more answers.

Nope, just select with the fob used to unlock the door which memory setting is used when the seat belt is buckled or the suv started.

I will check with the tech advisor at dealership. Many of you say the seat moves to mem positions with seatbelts and/or start of engine, and I absolutely concurr, this does indeed happen. I just thought it was happening automatically upon unlocking the door. I must have been mistaking, but I'll check with tech person and will report back to forum.

I just linked the remote with seating memory in my 13' RX350. I have the easy-exit turned off as my wife takes the back seat most of the time with baby. When I unlock the car with a touch on the door handle or by remote, once I open the door, the seat does go to the set position without buckling/unbuckling seat belt. I think if you have easy-exit turned on, you need to buckle/ubuckle seat belt to have the seat moved.

Now how do I link the remote with temperature setting? I have encountered couple of situation that temperate is set to 78F while I unlock the door with remote, but still couldn't find out how to customize it.

Interesting about the "easy exit" setting. Maybe that's what's going on, although I do like the easy exit function. Am still waiting for the call back from the tech guy at dealership.

Re the heat linking to memory, all I did was make sure all my seat and mirror settings were correct, set the heat, then push the memory button associated for me, and then set button. Seemed to have worked, although, as mentioned above, that's when I lost the setting to automatically move the seat into my position when I unlocked the car. (when I put the seat belt on, it then moves to position). (thats what most people on this thread say is normal-- I will find out from dealer).

This is a good example of where Lexus is dropping the ball. They have a few "How to..." videos posted on their web site, however, they could be doing a much better job of producing and posting more of these and especially for the trickier topics. In this day and age where everyone is carrying around a cellphone capable of video capture or has a GoVideo camera, I am sure that they could easily round up a few individuals to crank these out en masse.
