When I did my financing through Lexus their finance guy screwed us on the rate (we were tired and didn't push it). Gave us something around 3.9%. So as soon as we got our Lexus finance account number, I went to my bank and refinanced the car loan down to 1.65%.

Knowing the price paid is 1/3 of the equation of buying a car.
And paying the least amount doesn't translate to savings, especially if the dealer made their profit through your trade in or through their financing arm.

Same rule applies for lease vehicle.
You can't brag paying $299/ month for a 2014 fully loaded RX if you have put $5000 down.
Others are tricked to paying security deposit too.

So, the only way to REALLY see the big picture is.

1. Price paid for the RX ( including all discounts ex: loyalty program, financing, graduate discount etc)
2. Trade in value, how close to a KBB value were you able to get.
3. % APR on financing.

I'm not sure if is a good price or not since I've seen so many different prices on the internet and people saying they got a better deal here and there.

Why such a large dealer fee? Find out what it entails and bring that down. Plus, ive always been told never to put any money down on a lease. It brings the payment down but if you total it or something, bye bye 3k$$.

Not to be mean but that is a terrible deal. I ran your numbers thru a lease calculator and your monthly payment should be 388 plus tax. At $536 a month you would be paying full Msrp. The lesson learned here is never lease unless you understand the process. Your money factor is high. Should be .00065. To figure your effective interest rate you multiply the money factor by 2400. Never ever put money down on a lease.

The best money factor i got was with Toyota and it's 0.0001
So in your case, it's HIGH.
And Lexipro is right. It seems you're paying MSRP.
CHECK the accessories, dealer add-ons part on the lease contract.

Im sure there's a couple of thousand in there, which CAN Explain your high montly payment.

Trying to decide a few things and would like your opinion.
I have still another 1.5 years to pay off my RAV4. I looked at the payoff information and its about $7000 and the dealer trade in value (fair) online I am getting is about $1000 more than the payoff.

I was wondering if it would be a good idea to trade it in or wait till the car is paid off and then trade it in?

My thinking is since i am paying about $400 a month on my existing car, might as well pay a little more and pay for a new car. I have found that I am the kind that likes to change cars every 2-3 years.

What do you guys think?

Not a good deal. Looks like something the AutoNation folks would give you. Check with the folks down in Sarasota to see what they would give you as a comparison.

tin369....IMHO it boils down to 2 things resources/priority.

I hate to use the word unlimited, but if I had a substantial cash flow I would lease a new BMW every 2 years. Their reliability issue would not be a problem with short term lease, and I could care less if I lost money on the deal.

BUT since I’m just an ordinary working Joe and my priority is to retire in 3-4 years, I purchased a 2010 CPO RX for the wife (yeah she lets me drive on the weekends) and keep driving my 1997 Camry (280,000 mi.) back and forth to work.

This is a personal decision you need to make, you know your situation better that anyone else.

After I retire I’ll be looking for a gently used LS 430. Good luck on your decision.

My wife and I own 2004 RX330 and 2014 GS350 and we are looking to trade in the RX for 2014 RX350 FWD (non F Sport) this week (hopefully by 1/2/14) before $2,000 rebates are gone.

Have a few questions before I really start talking with the dealers in Los Angeles area and wanted to know if you guys can chime in on this.

1. What are the most popular packages for Southern CA region that are available in dealer lots? For some reason, my wife wants the non-navigation package. Is this even an option for RXs?
2. Any additional discounts for 2013 RXs?
3. Any dealership and salesperson you can recommend in LA area?
4. How much discount off of MSRP should I expect? How much discount are the members in Southern CA receiving?

Waiting 1.5 year will add more deppreciation to your RAV4.
Double check the trade in value, unfortunately, you have to be at the dealer and see it on paper.
You can't base your decision on an online quote that you got.

Most of the times, trade in are lower than these website qoutes.
Prepare to be underwater.

sgmstr, have you tried building an RX on the Lexus website to see what options/packages are available in your area? I'd start there to see what will probably be on the lots. Non-nav equipped RXs do exist though they might be harder to come by. We have a 2014 price thread here. You should probably check out the 2013 price thread first to get an idea of what kind of discount to expect and where to start if you decide to go with a 2013. You can probably get one for less. Someone else will have to recommend a dealer or you can always check the Southern California forum. Good luck.

Thanks for the info.

A dealer in my area offered $41,000 for 2014 RX 350 FWD (MSRP $45,774). With the $2K rebate, it will bring down to $39,000 with 2.9% interest. December 2 remember is extended until 1/6/2014. Does it seem like a fair deal?

i plan on countering with $39K w/o the rebate so the net would be $37,000. Does this sound realistic?
