As some of you have figured out, yes when DST changes you have to turn it on or off. The "Auto" setting is for crossing time zones. The GPS will automatically change the time. I imagine it doesn't do the DST automatically because some areas of the country don't observe it. And the actual dates that the DST occurs at changes every year.
