What's the highest mileage you would expect from your RX350 before you would consider a change or a tradeup? What's the most mileage you have heard of on an RX350 still in good shape and on the road?

My 2 cents. I have a 2002 RX300 with 104,000 miles. Still drives like a champ. Suspension not as smooth over bumps as it once was, but I still love the car. I'm going to buy a 2014 once they hit the dealers, but I still have no issues with what I'm driving. Treat it well, and it will treat you well. I've done regular maintenance on it. Whatever they tell me needs done, I get it done.

Although your question seems simple, it's a little complicated to answer.
In addition to the milage, years of ownership should also be factored in.
And we're talking about a "Reliable" car company here. Not a German maker where you'll be at the shop most of the times.

The RX 350 shares the same engine with a lot of Toyota cars and SUVs, you have Camry, Avalon, Highlander etc. and those can go more than 200,000 miles EASY. So i wouldn't be worried, if you plan to drive the car to the ground.

In our case,

We recently traded our 2011 RX 350 ( 20,800) miles for a 2013 RX. our dealer wanted to buy our car ( and sell it CPO), in exchange, we did get a good deal ( Lexus Golden Opportunity Event). For a more loaded RX.

We also traded our 2011 toyota Prius Four ( 110,000. Miles) for the RAV 4 EV because the offer is too hard to pass.

To answer your question, 5,000miles before you reach the original warranty, that's when i think about a trade up, just to maximize the resale value. You can always buy extended warranty but that's a different discussion all together.

Markrivers, you make a good point in that my question did not allow for reasons beyond mileage. I am aware of the other factors (emotional, practical, wanting to get new model features, stay current, etc.) but I just wanted to get a feel for the amount of mileage that could be expected of a RX350 before the performance, the ride and reliability start to go downhill. I have a 2011 RX350 with 48k miles and am religious about scheduled maintenance. No issues yet and planning to keep it for a loooonnng time.

With proper maintenance these vehicles should get to 150k to 200k miles with no real issues. Most people trade well before they need to because they 'need' a new vehicle for whatever reason.

Different car but my uncles 97 Toyota 4runner has over 520,000 miles on it. I still shocked to see that its running. We have had lots of cars that we have driven past the 200k mark with no real expenses, as we would maintain our cars regularly. Maintenance is key to having a problem free car.

We traded in our 2005 Rx with 97k miles for our 2010 Rx. The only reason we traded was because spouse wanted at least one car with less than 100k miles. My gmc had 120k at the time. Our current Rx has 74k on it, and we'll probably trade it in in right before 100k. Not a whole lot of difference between 80-97k mile trade in but when you go over 100k its basically just auction value. As far as reliability, not really an issue, but its the "potential" past 100k.

If my Rx at 100K is runnning the same as it did at 50K I cannot envision changes so significant that I would run to my dealer for a trade-in. Besides, to a potential buyer, 90K or 100K miles should make no difference in the Lexus world. Now I understand there are people who insist on being current with the latest model with the latest gizmos even if it makes no sense financially. Then there are others, myself included, who will drive a vehicle for as long as it serves me well. To each his own.

you can't compare 4Runner to RX because it is two different platforms, however 520, 000 miles do tell something about Toyota's reliabality

One of local floor salesman got rx400h with about 300 to 350k about 8 months ago, with original factory hybrid battery. Shocking but not really surprised because its a Toyota.

I wasnt actually comparing them, thats why i mentioned "different car but" Toyota and Lexus are practically the same, so to see a toyota engine go as far as it has on my uncles 4Runnner that says something about reliablity, and thats what I was trying to point out to the OP.

I still drive my 1986 Toyota long bed xtra cab pickup with 260,000 miles on it, although I do worry about losing body panels along the road. My wife still drives her 1999 Toyota Camry V6 with 240,000 miles on the odometer. The 2010 RX350 we bought used with 16,000 miles 10 months ago is as new to us as one straight from the factory, and I have no reservations about the longevity we can expect. All being said, regular maintenance is the key, along with finding a facility you can trust to look after you and your vehicles.

We have driven the RX 15,000 miles since our purchase, a bunch, considering we also use the older vehicles often. But we took more excursions knowing we could trust that we would be less likely to have problems, and we were certainly more comfortable.

Lexus/Toyota has done something right, despite the recall fever. 35 years ago, if you had 100,000 miles on your car, you were nearly ready to have it sent to the junkyard. Things have changed for the better.

Sorry for bumping this thread but decided to add to it rather than starting a new one of the same topic...

This is one of the main reason I chose the RX over other's (ie Sante Fe) is for longevity... and reliability. I'm hoping I've made a sound choice. It is replacing a 01' Altima with 214,500km (133,000mi) that my wife and I bought brand new. I also still drive an 02' Maxima with 195,000km (121,000mi) which I hope will last a couple more years.

Unfortunately, where I live we have one thing that loves to eat away our vehicles and that's road salt. Corrosion has usually been the main reason for parting ways with previous vehicles. You could see through my 95' Sunfire, I had for 12yrs before the Max, there was so much corrosion.

Here's hoping for at least 10yrs with the 2010 RX!
