Default RX350-2010 Rear wiper replacement

I posted this a few weeks back. All you had no answer so I figured it out. I'm a 70+ year old fart Mechanical Engineer. There is a bolt holding the rear wiper in place. Get a long 10MM open end wrench and loosen the bolt. Move the wiper down to a place you can remove the wiper blade. Replace and move the wiper back to upper position, then tighten bolt. Pep Boys sells a 14 inch wiper blade: It doesn't fit. No idea where to get one. I just bent the existing wiper to make sure it wiped the missed area. This wiper should never fail as it is out of the sun 24/7/365. Hope this helps, Homies.

Bob, I'm sure Lexus or Toyota will have the numbers in their parts dept for the correct blade. Usually when I'm looking for something I just go (for example) to Advance auto-parts web site and search. It will ask for the car, model, year, etc and the right item should appear. Hope that helps.

When you do find the correct wiper blade or insert there is no need for tools to replace it. Just activate the rear wiper from the wiper stalk and turn the ignition off when the wiper is midday on the window. Replace it then turn the switch off and turn the car back on.

That's pretty much what I said in this thread. I've changed the refills probably half a dozen times on the 450h. The rear is the most difficult out of the three but it can be done without loosening any bolts. Refills are available from Lexus and Toyota dealers. I typically go to Toyota since they'e closer and cheaper. OE only for my RXh. The wiper may not be exposed to the elements all the time but can degrade with use. And it's not something I want to fail when driving in pouring rain or on wet salty roads.

Tried the turn off mid-swing. Never was able to get arm high enough to change wiper blade. Got it now. Thanks.

The valets at my Lexus dealership change it for me. The last time the valet forceably pulled down the rear wiper...I was not happy with that.

Sit into your car, push twice car start/stop button do not depress brakes(this way you will not start up your car), turn on your rear wiper blades in intermittent mode, as soon as your wiper in vertical position press car start/stop button one more time, wiper will freeze at the same location, the you can easily remove it.

Do not start your car while blade is not in place, otherwise you might scratch the window.

Enjoy!

Is it easy to remove and replace? Where do I start after I got it in the veritcal position?

Welcome to CL, cappie808. The rear wiper takes a little more effort than the others to replace. It's not overly difficult though. Once the rear wiper is vertical, lift the wiper off the glass and pull the rubber insert down to remove. Angle it slightly away from the wiper arm. I place a towel underneath to avoid scratching the glass. Take the metal guides from the old insert and switch to the new one. Then thread through the wiper. Note, the metal guides may be bowed. It's easier to put the insert in following the same curve as the glass.

I just picked up new refills from my local Toyota dealer yesterday, $24 for all three.

Sorry, I stay in Cambodia, and I ordered the inserts from Sewell, with all the transhipments to here, it is not even $71 !

I was able to replace the fronts by myself and the rear I left it to Toyota service center and they helped me for free when i service my car there.

$71 is really ridiculous price to pay !

Did they charge you for the install?

While I can see the wiper blade being a bit more expensive than just purchasing the inserts, it does not add up to $71. Perhaps $15 for the driver side blade, even for a premium one, decreasing in price from there for the passenger side and rear.

If you want new wiper blades each time you would be best going to an AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts shop as they will install such a purchase for free. Even going to a Toyota dealership and having them install new inserts for you would be much cheaper.
