One thing I noticed on my 450h with the tow package is the vent on the black trim below the fog light is open on the driver side vs closed on the passenger side. I assume it's for air flow to the trans cooler. Maybe someone without the tow package can check that. Unfortunately the only pictures I have of the driver side wheel well are with the liner pushed out of the way when I was changing out the fog light.
the second thing you will have with the tow package is the trailer light connection (where you plug in the towing socket in the diagram), drivers side behind the rear wheel inside the bottom protective tray.

No, I don't play soccer!
Thanks for the picture, mohrd. I've removed the liner several times but never took a picture beforehand. I'd still like to know if the open vent in the black trim piece is only on RXs with the tow package. They just about line up with the ones in the wheel well.

Two more pictures. Now who can show us what it looks like without the package??

Hi All,
Sorry for the newb question, but I searched the forums and couldn't find any information. I am looking to purchase a ball mount for my hitch, but I am seeing conflicting information.
The mount that Sewell sells looks like it has a 0" drop:
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2010/2598.html
However I remember other forum members purchased the Curt towing starter kit with 2" drop:
http://www.thehitchstore.com/curt-to...ll-p-3955.html
Also, it sound like a 2" ball is the way to go? And what about the length of the ball mount?
I will most likely be using it to tow u-haul trailers on vacations so I am looking for a one-size-fits-all application.
Thanks,
Eric

Just put the question to Lexus Canada. Sent our VIN & asked to confirm if trailer package prepped or not.
I do see the vents & tranny cooler on the car.
Is this a larger cooler vs. the non-prepped car or is it the cooler available with the tow package?

Rear connector doesn't mean you have tow prep.

Our 2011 has the trailer prep package. A "Flat 4" connector should "plug and play". How do you get to the connector, the above diagram looks like you remove the bumper. There should be an easier way. I would think with the trailer prep pkg the controller is already there. Craig's has a very nice hidden hitch for <$150 and offer 2 types of wiring harness's. I am trying to figure out which one to get. I want the flat 4 plug to store inside the car, not an outside connection.....they corrode.
