I'm having the same issue in my 2010 RX and I'm wondering if it is isolated to this year model. The SA just called me back to let me know anything inside of the car is not covered under my CPO warranty and could involve taking the seats out. WHAT! Kind of thinking a call to Lexus NA might be needed in this case as well...

I had an issue with rattling on a 2012 but it was that I didn't fully close the center section enough do that the latch was making all the noise. A simple extra tug toward the rear engaged the latch as designed and all is well.

Seat Rattles
I have a 2010 RX 350. My seats have been rattling for over a year. At first I thought it was the luggage cover but then I noticed the seats vibrating every time I hit a rough patch in the road. I took the car to Lexus last week to have it checked. The service person did a few things (couldn't define what he did) and it was fine when I left. Two days later it started again. We have another 2011 RX 350 and it does the same thing. Horrible design flaw. I'm looking at a Lincoln MKX next time.

Hi, I am being driven mad by a rattling rear seat and found your post. Where exactly did you place the towels, was it from the boot or from within the passenger compartment.
I managed to get 3 small towels stuffed under the seats from the passenger compartment and it has certainly helped a fair bit.
Thanks

I have the same problem and thought about the towel solution, even if its really embarassing..... anyway, if I stuck towels between the seats it means that they can't be adjusted anymore because the towels will move... am I wrong ?

I think the towels are meant to be placed under the rear seats, near the boot area but am not so sure, if anybody knows where to place the towels I would be very grateful..

Noise is just the outcome of a problem. What problem exactly is being addressed, may or may not be the same for all owners with noise complaint. The picture posted, clearly showed the flaw in position of the seats. The rattle can be reduced by packing towel between the two moving/shaking parts or by addressing the root cause of fixing the position of the seats.
Look for the root cause and then either jury rig it (towel) or fix the problem.
