Why is the price so high in Houston, TX
Hello all,
I am hoping to pick up a RX350 soon. I've been looking at some used 2011/2012 RX350s in the area and find the asking prices are outrageous. For example, this CPO 2012 with the color combo I want is listed for 43,900$:

I know a new 2013 RX350 similarly or better equipped is going for about 47K MSRP, which can be bought at about 43K (10% off MSRP). So what are these guys doing that I am not seeing? Price the used ones 7-8K more that what I think fair prices.

The high reasle value of these cars has always made them great cars to lease.

Seems like almost every car from Texas Direct Auto I looked at; the previous owners did not give a crap about the car. Tons of scratches on the exteriors and interiors. Even the salesman admitted to me that they Photoshop the pictures on "how the car could look like"
Don't get me wrong I sold them my previous car but not likely to buy from them.

@MARQEVANS: I agree the RX has high resale value. No doubt. But the asking price is just ridiculous. The same car is priced about 35K in the state of Florida.
@Sevn86: Thanks for the suggestion. I've not bought any car from TDA but have been there a couple of times with my friends. They have a huge selection but I kind of agree with @benzo555 in a sense that most of their cars are not well cleaned and presented. It gives me me a feeling of buying "knocked up" cars.
I actually don't care much about the CPO warranty. In fact, a CPO 2012 Lexus sounds very stupid because it only covers 3 years (albeit 100K miles) when the original warranty should be good for about 3 years. I much prefer the CPO coverage of BMW and Infiniti over Lexus. Do you think it's reasonable to ask them to sell a CPO car without CPO coverage at a discounted price?
One other thing I notice about the RX from our test drive was that it had somewhat stiff/rough/bumpy ride on less than perfect roads on those 19"s. The salesman was telling us they don't come with 18"s anymore, at least in Houston area. The old RX300 we used to have rode much smoother and softer.
I'll start looking at out of state Lexus dealerships and other brands like the RDX, EX/FX37, etc.

Also to answer your other question yes you can get a CPO without the warranty and they knock off only $1,000 from the price. In my struggle at the Lexus dealerships i tried that too.
