Hid replacement for Normal Halogen headlight
So, I finally purchased an RX30 for my wife. The Halogen headlight isn't all that bad, but I am used to drive with HID. Therefore, I am buying HID kits for my RX350 Headlight. Whenever it is shipped to me, I will take pictures of the progress.
So far.
1/ Link to buy HID kits, OEM is 55W (no need for extra Hardnes) and 6000k is common factory color.
This will come with everything needed to convert your light bulbs into HID white colors. For more Colors please check out the guide on the website.
I recommend this site, because I have used it, purchased it, and have had no problem with it so far.
2/ According to Manual Book
****Low Beam is H11**** Fog Lights is *****H11*****
****High Beam is H9*****
**** 55W *****
3/ The installation should be Relatively Easy
--Take off engine plastic cover on both side--
--Access the Light Bulb--
--Use the OEM Plugs into the Ballasts input of the HID KID--
--Mount the Ballasts at a convenience locations, I had great success with Plastic ties--
--There is a Plugs output from the Ballast, Plug it into the HID Bulbs--
*****If the lights don't turn on after installation, try to switch Polary, or turn the original plugs around****** Halogen doesn't care about Polary, but HID Ballast does.
--Install the HID Bulbs the same as regular Halogen Bulb--
--Check the HID carefully, make sure that both will work--
**First time Installer common trouble shoots**
1/ Only 1 light is working......Switching the bulbs, or Polary will solve your problem
2/ Lights comon for a short time then turn off, until engine restart......You will need the Hardness Relay, which should not occur in our car. The factory hardness is good for 55W
3/ Bulb Visually contain Contaminents, or White particle inside.......HID Bulbs has Special Salt in it, which is required for a longer life in the Bulbs. This is the way the bulbs are.
For all that Said. Hopefully you will like it, and love it

I heard 4300 was the Lexus factory color.

Color of the HID is up to personal preference.
I don't think the Regular non HID RX, which is equipped stock Halogen run Ballasts
The site selling the kit together with 55W ballasts as well. But you can use 35W as personal preference.
IMO, 35W vs 55W don't have much differences that you can visually tell

Whitigir, grats on your new car. got my kit from xenondepot few day ago, yeah its easy just to take off the plastic cover and work with ziptie, here a picture I took while installing. Been driving for 2 day I like the 5000k color seem bit whiter. I got 35w and I used relay that come with it. I dont trust stock wire because it was mean for halogen. If you go 55w you should install relay harness just to be safe.

Thanks for the great info Whitigir. I just bought the 2014 RX450h AWD w/o HID and would like to follow your exact steps. 2 questions if you can help:
1. I assume this kit is compatible and same setup for 2014 RX450h?
2. Per another post about safety of 35w vs. 55w, and I know you went with 55w. What's your thought from a safety standpoint? Ok to go 55w with existing factory wiring? I like 55w because it is brighter.
Thanks!

According to the Lexus web site (showing 2014 data), the RX450h has standard halogens, with HIDs and LEDs optional.

That is very true. However, I'm just pointing out what is on the site, and it does lead me to believe that somewhere, the possibility of halogens on an RXh most likely does exist.

The possibility does exist. For some reason, Lexus started a war on HIDs and many new owners find themselves stuck with halogens after the fact. It is true for RX350. I'm very surprised RH450h now fallen the same way.

Halogens have been standard from 2010 on but an absolutely base standard RX would be extraordinarily rare.
The actual build level through 2013 had Nav/Premium/Comfort/Tow prep and yes, LED headlights. New for 2014 at least in the Central Region is the inclusion of the HID's in the single general spec.
As always with Lexus, if you want what is shown as optional outside the routine build, just order it. Heads up display, rear seat entertainment, Luxury Package and the LED's are just a click (and 4 months...) away.

Halogen indeed for my 2014 RX450h (sad to say). I still have my 2006 RX400h and that comes loaded as standard back when it first came out. Now what's optional in 2014 RX450h vs. 2006 RX400h are:
- rain sensing wipers
- headlight washer
- HID headlights
- ML premium audio
I missed the HID the most.

Good luck with that. Dealers were very reluctant to do a custom build for me (no Nav). They wanted a $5K deposit upfront and could not grantee a trade-in value for my car. I never even got a real quote out of any of them. So, the best bet was to buy what is on the lot.
