Default Who got the better tires??

My mother and I both purchased new 2015 RX 350s (she got hers in June, I just got mine this week)…I happen to notice we have different tires - she has Dunlops and I have Michelins…(after noticing that, I noticed a bunch of new RXs have different tires) … who got the better tires?? Which are the best ones to get?

Aren't you in the best position to tell us which one rides better and which one is less noisier. You got both brand new identical cars for comparison. Just my opinion.

Agreed. Let us know how they compare. My experience is with the OEM Michelins. I just replaced them at 47,000 miles and they were still super smooth and quiet.

Tire Rack customer data paints a good picture of which is better.

I've had Dunlops and Michelins. I prefer Michelins by far.

Funny - I literally JUST noticed this last night and I JUST got the car 2 days ago - so I haven't driven either enough to make a fair assessment…ironically though, I DID think mine drove better, but I chalked it up to the fact that I was driving a car with 15 miles on it vs one with around 500 miles on it (I drove her car last night) …I think both drive great, I just wasn't sure if there was an opinion either way … I am not sure it will be a fair assessment down the road though either - my mother will only put about 2500 miles on a car in a year - I will do that in a couple months…my mother is in her 70s and drives like it…I am a hard driver - I accelerate hard, I brake hard…(I wouldn't buy my own used cars!) … I am *trying* to change my driving habits with this car…we shall see!

There is a huge tire thread at the top of the page. Take some time and peruse, just about EVERY question you are going to ask on this subject will have been answered in there. And some you didn't think of.

Congrats on the new additions.

Is your RX a higher trim level than hers?

I had Dunlop's unusable after 35k miles, Michelin's after 50k miles still have 40% tread left...

I had Dunlop's on my 2010 and had no complaints about them. When it came time to replace them at a little over 40,000 miles I went with Michelin's because of what the general feeling on this board was with regard to the Dunlop's. I figured that maybe I was just lucky with the ones I had and didn't want to temp fate!! If my failing memory is correct, I think the Michelins cost me about $400 more for a set of four.

^^ That is interesting Vince22…thanks for the info! My mom leased hers, she she will be out of it by the time that car has 35,000 miles…she probably won't even put 7,000 on it in 3 years!

Quieter, much quieter. Michelins transmit much less read noise, in my opinion. Softer, smoother ride too. Although, I have to admit I'm comparing our old Dunlops with 35,000 miles on them, with new Michelins. I've had Michelins over the years on several cars and I like them. Hope this helps.
If your Mom is only driving 2,500 miles a year, I think any tires will be OK.
If you are driving hard, like you say, I think you will like the road grip of the Michelins.
