How long do you guys warm up your RX? i usually wait until the RPM's get below 1K and then I go. I use the same rule for any car. What about you guys?

In the winter, if the windows aren't frosted, I fire it up, wait about 30-60 seconds, then I start driving. The vehicle warms up very quickly even in the prairie winter.

This is the process I take too. The only time I warm up is if I have to clear ice, frost or snow from windshield.

I'd guess that people who plan to keep their vehicles, warm up, and if you are leasing the vehicle- no warm-up.

On the other hand, excessive periods of idling is more likely to build up deposits in an engine, and the longer an engine runs cold the worse it is for the engine too. The two together are I think why manufacturer's haven't recommended warming up for quite a while. If you want to keep your car a long time, don't idle cold engines, if you lease, warm up all you want. I really think the main advantage of warming up is about a comfortable driver, not a better maintained car.

Wow I really would thought people would say warm up longer, was expecting no warm up at all. Half of the reason why I do warm up till the needles drops below 1k is because it gives a min to get comfy and get to the song I want to listen to...

Also, can any one explain how idling the cold engine will facilitate engine deposits?
Remote start does exacly that-idling the cold engine...
PS
Maybe it was my luck (or lack of it) that quite a few people that lease thier vehicles told me "I don't care about this car because I will turn it back to the dealer in a...months"
