Drop a pen from air vent
I own a 2012 lexus rx350 and i accidently put my pen in the front air vent (the one n the center).I think i am driving my old accord. it just drop inside right away. It did not cause any noise. Is there anyway to take it out? I heard it drop to the bottom, and seems no way to get it from the top. Is this a huge job to work with? Do i need to tke out the whole dash boardin orderto reach it? Please give me an idea; Many thanks

I have to ask. How does one "accidentally" put a pen in an air vent?
I have to agree with others. If it isn't making noise, I would leave it. I think taking the entire dash apart to retrieve it, will likely introduce more noise/rattles than the pen!
On the other hand, If it is making noise, it would drive me nuts! I would HAVE to remove it so I'm not reminded that I put a pen in the vent every time I drive the car!

A flexible rod magnet might retrieve it. Small magnet on the end of a short roll or flexible metal rod. Usually see them with the rod rolled up for storage. Find it at any NAPA, Carquest etc..
This will fit in any space a pen will go.
Only limiting factor will be the rod length & "IF' the pen has any iron content.

No, I don't play soccer!
I was going to suggest using a magnet too with a wire hanger. Or put some super sticky tape on the end of the wire. A vacuum might not be powerful enough. The cover above the pedals can be removed. You might want to check if any part of the vent is accessible there, Good luck.

I'm still trying to figure out what would possess someone to stick a pen in an air vent...
My guess is you're going to have to forget that pen is there. If you go cramming other things down the vent like magnets or vacuums you're going to risk damaging the vent fins...

you can get at it by taking off the console. It is the same process I used to install my Prestigious Society override. Look for that thread as it has detailed instructions.
