Default Parking 40 Acres Away

Does this only happen to me?

When parking in a parking lot with my 2012 RX 350, I'll park far away from other trucks/cars/kids/and run away store carts and walk into the store.

When I return in less then 1/2 hour, there's 10-20 vehicles parked on either side of me.......

I broke down and installed the door edge guards just for this reason.

Is this just a Lexus thing, or do other buyers wish they bought a Lexus and need a closer look?

I also park as far away as possible. Hopefully, those are the same folks that care about their vehicles.

I think it happens to anyone that cares enough about their car to park far away from anyone else. It's like they single you out BECAUSE you care!

This is the same logic I use. They really do single us out, but it's because they care, too. I hope.

I still check for dings when I get back to my car!

We always look for parking at the end of a row and get as far as possible away from the next slot. That way at least one side is safe. We just got a 2013, so yes, we are paranoid also about where we park.

I have noticed this too. No matter how far and alone your car is when you park it, there is always someone next to you when you come back.

this happens to me all the time ( i own a 2gs tho)

a lot of the times i notice people just want to park next to a modded car to snap a picture or take a quick glance at it.

i try to use the same logic and hope those same drivers are careful with their cars.

haha I do the same. If I can't get an end spot I try to find one as far away as possible. However, if there is already a Lexus parked away from the bunch, I park next to it but give them plenty of space to open their door, or a spot away if they are cramped spaces. Extra points if it's the same year/model?

I guess someone else thinks like I do.

I try to park as further away as possible, but both our Lexus & Porsche are car magnets, especially the junky ones, they tend to park really close to ours.

Mine is usually one of about 12 RXs in a lot (and the only one without a baby seat or a sticker family). I just park near the door.

I also park the RX as far as possible but the parking lots here in Sugar Land, TX typically have so many RXs It's crazy! It's like everyone got one for free or something.

I gave up on parking faraway years ago because it doesn't work. I bought the dent insurance instead. However, the RX seems to be tougher as I haven't used it much. My IS dings like crazy.
