2013 RX350. I thought I read somewhere where cars ship with nitrogen in the tires, but just checked the owners manual and can't find it anywhere.

If I add plain old air to the tires what happens? Problems?

And I have looked all over under the dash for the reset switch for the pressure monitor reset switch and can't find it. The owners manual says its there, plain as day with an good photo. Anybody have a 2013 and found it? Did they remove it and not update the manual?

Very funny; we all on here know about the Nitrogen scam at Costco and some dealers!!!!
NO manufacturers put Nitrogen in their tires!!!!!!!!

Unless you have a specific need like NASCAR or the airlines the extra cost of nitrogen will only benefit the provider. Re: locating the reset switch it's a PITA . But here is a link to help you find it. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...t-looking.html

Thanks for the replies.

I searched and found that tread before I posted, but so help me I can'r find that switch. The picture in the manual actually shows it ON THE FRONT of the dash. There is a indentation where a switch WOULD be as in the picture, but its a cutout only for where a SWITCH COULD be placed. I see the interior light under the dash near the gas pedal and found the OBII connector, but nothing else..................

I just checked on mine - it is easier to locate by touch. As the linked thread says - reach under dash palm up between the gas and brake pedals. The switch is pretty much directly "behind" the wheel well interior light as you reach down there (towards the front of the vehicle).

It's almost impossible to see (without getting in there on your back with a flashlight) but here's a pic of it snapped with my phone up under there:

Just a note Jim; Nitrogen cost just pennies to do a tire; it just does no good unless you have very quick heat build up and high speeds; I can't remember the cheap cost exactly but when I was in NASCAR we would not bother filling any personal vehicles with it, and used it to blow away dust and grime!!! Literally almost as cheap as air from a compressor

I had Michelins tires put on my 2013 when I bought it and noticed that the valve stem cover end is green so I'm assuming the dealer did fill the tires with nitrogen.

Mklemovitc nailed it - "It's almost impossible to see (without getting in there on your back with a flashlight)..". I just found mine yesterday. It is roughly up above the gas pedal on the underside of the dash. Flashlight was key since the switch and platform was black if I recall correctly.

My 2013 came about 4 pounds cold overfilled from the factory, so just got around to checking and adjusting the tires. That softened the ride a little bit..

re: nitrogen in tires - my dealership does it on ALL their vehicles "no charge" but we all know what that means. The SA told me they have a machine they hook up the tires to and it swaps out the air for nitrogen pretty quickly.

Regarding tire pressure, my indicator consistently shows 34 lbs cold, around 38 hot this time of year; not all tires show the same. It would be nice to know which one(s) I should deflate a bit vs having to put a tire pressure gauge on them.

Extend arm straight under dash between brake and gas pedal 12" and feel straight up.
With ingition on, press and hold for about 5 secs until tire pressure icon in display flashes 3X.

I haven't looked as I got myself 2010 few days ago, but it should be noted on the driver's side door jam.

Costco uses nitrogen on their tires, but never heard of the car dealers using nitrogen but I'm not surprised.

The reason I asked is I turned in my 2010 and leased a 2012. I thought sure my 2010 had a 35lbs recommendation, but I see my 2012 has a 32Ilb recommendation, so if anyone happens to look at their 2010 let me know what the tire pressure was on a 2010.
