Default New 2013 RX450h AWD

Just got a 2013 RX450h AWD, Nebula Gray Pearl with Parchment interior and birds-eye maple.
Included options:
Premium Package with the auto folding mirrors, Xenon HID Headlamps, Navigation, Comfort Package, 19 inch Wheels, Preferred Accessory Package, Wood Steering Wheel, Towing Prep Package, Intuitive Parking Assist, Heads Up Display, Remote Engine Start. Also switched out for Michelin Latitudes. Came with free hand painted pin stripes with the small Lexus logo, which we liked, and decided to keep. The photo doesn't show them very well.

Almost got a Deep Sea Mica in another state, but didn't have the Heads up Display, and dealer wouldn't budge on out the door price. We travel most of the year and felt we could do better, as we had some pricing estimates for both new car and trade in. Decided to try out the large Lexus market in Dallas, and ended up getting an excellent deal. Thought they had the Deep Sea Mica according to there website, and also cars.com, but we are more than happy with the Nebula Gray Pearl.

Traded in our early release 2010 RX450h AWD, Matador Red Mica with Parchment. Had 39,700 zero problem miles on it, and we were kind of sad to let it go. They even switched the cross bars from our trade in to the new, without having to buy new ones, as I had forgotten to put them on the final purchase price. Paid with trade in, $4000 charge card, which is the max they would allow us to get our points, and check. Very nice that RXs have the great resale value.

Have been reading the forums since retiring in 2009 while buying our first RX for travel. Decided to join the club today with the purchase of our 2013.

CONGRATS on the new ride.

It will be interesting to hear your take on the changes they made between the '10 and the '13, since you have now owned both. Enjoy!!!

PS Nice to see Lexus is packaging the HUD without the Luxury Package.

I also have a 2010 and am wanting to trade for a 2013. You just made it worse. Congrats anyway.

Dennis you Dawg, now I'm really jealous. I have an early 2010 production model too and really love it. What I don't have that I'd love to have is AWD for a hitch and the HUD along with everything else I DO have. And I confess I wouldn't mind it if it said 87 octane inside the filler cap .

I've been under the impression the AFS system with the HID's went away in 2013. Do yours still swivel with the turn of the steering wheel at night? I'd hate to give that up, love it.

Please post a comparison of the two, even a 1st impression. We'd all appreciate that, thanks.

Good photos and nice color.

Oh, a hearty welcome to C/L

Beautiful color combination, in fact my first choice when shopping for my RX. I'd also be interested in your impression of your 2013 in comparison to your former 2010. Just as important, congratulations on getting Michelins with your 2013.

Why the Michelin Latitudes?

Great looking ride, but then, I'm a little biased since our vehicles are related with the same model and color combinations! Congrats!

The 3 original equipment tires for the RX are Dunlop GrandTrek Touring A/S, Bridgestone Dueler H/L, and Michelin Latitude Tour HP. The Michelins, from my research, have the highest warranty and reviews ratings of the three. Also the UTQG (uniform tire quality grade) was the highest of the three. I have had both the Dunlops and Michelins on my last 2010 RX, and although I was fairly happy with the Dunlops, I give the Michelins a better overall grade for quality and ride. The Dunlops also wore out about 5000 miles early on the outer edges even though my alignment came out perfect, and I always keep the tire pressure at 35. Only saw a very few Michelins on the RXs during all my shopping, and had good timing to get a switch. My first 200 miles on the 2013 has been very smooth and enjoyable.

I checked out our Xenon HID Headlamps and they didn't have the AFS swiveling feature like the 2010 we traded in. However, I am very impressed with the new LED DRLs. I started the car, released the parking brake to activate them, and walked out about 30 feet for a good view. Never thought I could get so excited just looking at lights. Be sure to check them out at your dealer sometime with the DRLs activated. Also, the new L-Finesse arrowhead motif with the clear lenses, in my opinion, is classy and fits in well. Good view of them in my photos in this post. The HIDs are still impressive, and we almost never drive at night on curvy roads, although will still miss the AFS, mostly because I had them and now I don't. Don't really miss the auto on off headlamps on the 2013s either.

Yea, the grill and lights are growing on me a lot too. At 1st I didn't like the new grill but the only constant in life is change. And the grill is the way forward so ....

When you say you don't miss the auto on/auto off are you saying they can't be set to turn themselves off after you leave the car anymore ??? Man that's just about standard on luxury cars now. I don't understand the removal of that feature at all.

But you have one great looking car, I'm jealous

My mistake, I meant the automatic high beams from my old 2010. The 2010 HID package was $1,175 MSRP which included HIDs, AFS, and automatic high beams. My 2013 HID package was $515 MSRP, but no AFS or automatic high beams. The new DRLs are included in the 2013 base price regardless of light package option.
