Default Leather or Vinyl

I have a 2012 RX with leather seats. Is the dashboard leather or vinyl?

...a "synthetic" material. Not leather, but I won't call it "vinyl" to prevent someone that may know the technical type of material it is or is a chemistry whiz from needing to correct me. (The first big hint for me is there are no seams anywhere on the dash as you'd expect from a natural hide needing to cover that large of an area.)

In case you're asking this question to determine what type of product to use to maintain the dash, I for one use a damp rag every time I wash the car, then use good products designed for vinyl or leather to clean and protect it. More info in the Automotive Care and Detailing forum, or we can take this thread there as need be.

Its definitely not leather, its a rubberized material.

Thanks! I bought a Lexus brand leather cleaner and a conditioner at the dealer, so I am wondering if these products would be good to use on the dash.

I would say no, but that's me. Try it on the strip at the door window sills first to see how you like it. I don't like a shiny dash and the Lexus branded creams might make it shiny.

I agree with DunWkg. You need to try it out and see if you like the looks. I'm into a more matt finish look myself, not high gloss as some products provide. Some products will attract dust to that black dash and if you're like me, you'll curse it for weeks if you're not careful. I'm not familiar with the Lexus branded products, but there are a bunch of comments in the Detailing Forum on what folks are using these days. I suggest you do a scan of subjects here -- you'll get a lot more valuable input there, than here in the RX-specific forum.

You can be sure that Lexus is not directly manufacturing car care products of any type. Rather they are marketing them at their dealerships. I would check with Mwguiers on their website. They have an interior detailer that I think works well for everything. Just my personal thought and experience.

Lexus most certainly rebrands other popular auto detailing products and then increases the prices.

to the OP, if you want a good dash cleaner and for all areas that are not leather, I would recommend aerospace 303
