Default In the market for CPO rx 350 2010

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum.
In the market for a cpo lexus rx 350 (without navigation as it appears to be 2k more)
i test drove one today 11000 miles for $33000 (car was purchased in june 2009 per carfax)
I am really hoping to spend around $ 30000
What is everyones experience? Anyone know good dealers or salesman in NJ/NY/PA area?
My concern was - this cars drivers seat has leather cracking and it had some dinges on the door.
Also when i lifted my foot off the break at a traffic light it would make an annoying break sound which continued all through my test drive.

I have the same thing too. Purchased a new 2010 RX350 and it now has ~20500mi on it. After two or three rain drops, barely any at all, the leather seat cover from the front passenger seat started to crack a little. The drivers seat cover actually had really bad wrinkles but the dealer replaced it for me as a sign of good faith.

As for the brake issue, do you know if the car was recently washed? My brakes would make a creaky sound when I drive it after the wheels were washed, and sometimes but not always, there is a light creaking sound when my foot is slightly off the brake pedal and when I let go of the brake after engaging the parking brake in neutral. I read somewhere that it might just be the sound of the brake pads slowly grinding against the rotors.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Get the NAV system ... it is a great option. Especially in a used car; where it is marked down. I don't know anything about leather cracking except that I would not buy a car with that defect. You can go to kbb.com and get CPO pricing along with retail and private party pricing so you can set realistic expectations. I think you should test drive a few more 2010's to understand how they operate.

Rather than trying to low ball the vehicle, I would recommend trying to find a very nice car (no dings, nice interior etc.). I think you will be happier in the long run. Although it is pretty hard to imagine how someone caused a lot of damage to a car in 11,000 miles. June 2009 is a very early released car in 2010 model year ... you can find 2010's that were sold up until at least DEC 2010 (a year and half later). I personally would price a June 2009 car as a 2009 model year car and negotiate from that position if I wanted to buy the car.

i went to two other dealerships today
rx 350 2010 with 31000 miles was for $32500 which i think is a lot
he had another model with 23000 miles for $32500 but this car had rust on the inside of the wheels (the metal round portion) and the sales man said its because the car is in the lot and it hasnt been driven and it will go away
has anyone heard rust going away? that was a first
I agree with USCB - i wanna buy a car and keep it for 10 years so i want a nicer car even if its a few 100$ more
i am planning on purhcasing 5 year warranty
has anyone taken extended warranty?

The rust on the brake rotors/pads will be gone after you make a stop or two. That is not a problem. You are going to want to get something other than a 5 year warranty because the car comes with a bumper to bumper 4 year warranty and a 6 year powertrain warranty.

You should check a site like cars.com to get a better idea if what's out there and what they are asking.

I though we bought Lexus vehicles because they are reliable and they hold their resale value. Just saying!

Do you think it's necessary to buy the car from a Lexus dealer or is it advisable to get from a private party or used car lot? I'm wondering if it really matters.

From my experience buying our RX back in april. I went to 4 lexus dealerships, 3 toyota dealers, an audi dealer, Infiniti dealer, and Texas direct auto (Bigger then Carmax). I test drove over 15 RX's. Every Lexus dealer tried to rip me off by like $4000. The other dealerships that had RX's on their used car lot were very reasonable. I tried to deal with my Lexus dealer 4 different times on 4 different RX's. They wouldn't negotiate and in the end i went to Texas Direct Auto and bought my RX. It had over 15,000 miles less then the ones at the Lexus dealerships and had way more features too. Plus i paid $1,800 less then the one i saw at the lexus dealer which had 38,000 miles and less features. The Lexus dealerships are a huge rip off, especially the ones here in Houston. Try to find one at a Used car lot or other dealerships that don't sell Lexus. Texas Direct auto had over 17 on there lot when i went and i got to test drive as many as i wanted. If im ever in the market for another lexus and purchasing used i will definitely look at non-lexus dealerships before i go to one that sells lexus.

the only thing i feel about outside dealers is that they can change and fudge up the odometer?
With lexus - most of their cars are leases and its mandatory to have them serviced at lexus or else they charge a fee to the lease holder.
I agree with SEV that you do pay a lil more but its peace of mind and trust
I mean if you find a great independent you trust - absolutely go for it but i went with lexus dealer cuz i didnt know anybody
