Coming from an 2000 RX300, I am joining the OP's camp with the purchase of a new 2012 MDX Advanced Package plus Roof Rails, Cross Bar, Running Board, and Cargo Cover for $49K OTD, and 0.9% financing for 60 months. My wife also picked the same color Grigio/Ebony as the OP.

I was offered the same $49K OTD and 1.9% financing for an 2013 RX350 FWD with Premium, Comfort, Park Assist, Tow Prep, Preferred Accessories packages from a Lexus dealership from San Diego last week but did not take it.

For the same OTD amount, but better financing (0.9% vs. 1.9%), I believe the MDX is a better deal.

I looked at my neighbor's MDX prior to my RXh purchase. I personally was unimpressed with the look of the interior, there was far too many buttons and the quality just wasn't there as compared to the RXh. Mileage was
also a factor. I hope you enjoy your MDX!

After 2 months with MDX, I am still very happy with my choice. Yes, I agree about interior being less appointed than Lexus, also lower res NAV (but unlocked and hence far more useful) and mediocre backup camera. But all these pale by comparison in driving department and everyday use. Starting with the seats, which are more comfortable and supportive for my 6'3" x 230 lb frame. I have been driving with 6 passengers (4 adults and 2 kids) on 2-hour long weekly trips, effortlessly. MDX excels on the highway. Even fully loaded, it never feels underpowered or unstable. Advance gadgets work very well. This is not for comparison. It's all a matter of personal taste and preferences. Keep rolling RXers.

Glad you're enjoying the MDX. It appears to suit your needs perfectly. Thanks for the update.

I should have bought an MDX too. I just bought a 1010 RX350 last month only to realize a week later that many of the navi and phone features get disabled while driving. I have a 2010 TSX which has no such limitations. I never imagined that such limitations may exist. I searched a lot of places to see if this can be overridden, but nope. Not happy

You didn't search hard enough. Plenty of threads around here regarding Beat Sonic and Prestigious Society which are aftermarket add ons that will allow in motion NAV, Phone and DVD playback.

We just purchased a new 2013 RX450H and now hubby is driving our 2008 MDX. Had the 2014 MDX been available I might have been hard pressed to make a decision. The MDX is an awesome car and great value for the $$$. I just got annoyed that the price you pay for a current, loaded MDX and it still does not have a touch start and retractable side mirrors. My Mom's 2006 RL Acura has touch start. That being said I love my new hybrid and also love being able to get unleaded fuel and excellent gas mileage compared to the MDX. They really are two different type of rides. The third seat in the MDX is nice, but we have probably used it 5 times in five years.

I did, but nothing for 2010 onwards. There's plenty upto 2009
I have a 2010 RX350 CPO (guess there's no DVD for 2010 NAV!)

This was in the 3RX FAQ thread at the top of the forum. Several members have PS installed as well. So it's very possible to override the lockout. Not that I'm recommending it. Voice commands work fine for me.

Wow, thanks a lot. Just wondering if I will end up forfeiting my warranty if I 'override' this!

Probably wouldn't hurt your power train warranty but if anything electric went down, there's always a chance they could attribute it to a short or surge from a non OEM add on. And we all know there are all sorts of computer technology through out the car.

But like Anita said, it's just a learning curve to make the voice commands while driving do the job even easier than manual input. I set up the NAV with directions often while driving through the voice commands. It's easy.

I haven't checked other manufacturers 2013 models but I'd bet most have gone the way of Lexus and turned off many of the features that rob attention from driving. Personally, I support that.

I like the new MDX, i'm a mechanic and a good customer of mine has been brining me their 08 mdx since it was new for service. Normal maintnance, filters, fluids, tires, brakes no problems with the car.I just did last service on it yesterday at 85k miles. I find that body style the most apealing just like with any previous acuras just look better to me. I hope that the newer transmission was upgraded because earlier year V6 honda/acura cars/trucks had high rate of transmission failure.

Great thread! My wife and I have an '09 MDX that we just love! Just took it in for the 41,250 maintenance and the service tech said to me "eveything looks good, actually everything looks really good." She sounded suprised but made me happy to know the decision we made 4 years ago to buy the MDX. We haven't had one problem with it. Still have the original tires and even those are still in good condition. The dealership we deal with is Frank Leta Acura and they have treated us wonderfully. Anytime we needed a loaner car, no problem. Would highly recommend checking them out. I will definetely buy from them again.
