Default Tow Hitch Wiring for FWD Models

I was wondering if there was any additional information on this as of late. I did a search on tow hitches and read all the old posts dating back from 2009. I went ahead and already ordered the Curt hitch from Amazon, but I want to figure out the wiring before it arrives.

From what I understand, I need to either buy the Lexus converter, part #82670-0E040 (link shows for a 2009, but it has the same part number):
http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2009/5457.html

Or buy an aftermarket one, something like this:

What have all you guys with FWD models and tow hitches used? This is all going onto my 2010 RX350 FWD.

Thanks for any input!

If your RX has the towing package, there is a plug-in right behind the bumper on the driver's side. It has a cap or cover on the end of it. I put the Curt hitch on my 10RX and ordered the connector from them(e-hitches I think). I plugged it in and every light on the trailer works. If you don't know whether you have the tow pkg. or not, look behind the left front tire and there will be a transmission oil cooler there if it has the tow package. If you don't have the tow pkg. figuring out how to hook up the wires will be a lot more difficult. Good luck.

One of the members here Lilly had posted videos of his hitch installation, which also involved hooking up hitch wiring on his RX, which had the tow package. I will be referencing his video again to install Curt hitch and the wire harness I have on order through Amazon.com.

As mac12 mentioned, if you don't have the tow package, it will involve a lot more than just plugging the wire connector and make this job difficult.

The tow package includes a heavy duty alternator as well as a transmission cooler and the wiring package. Do you have this? If you dont, dont worry as it wont matter as you can only tow 3500lbs. If your planning on towing a Tennesee double wide then you are in trouble anyways.

Thanks for the replies, I'll go outside and double check my car right now, but I have a feeling it does not have the two prep package. It's kind of an odd one... I bought it CPO'd about a year ago and pretty much bought it over the phone. It had navigation and I thought it would have the other packages, but it didn't. No HID's, no heated seats, no premium wheels. Pretty much base with navi.

I just plan on towing a small trailer for picking up things like furniture. My wife and I just bought a house and we figure it will be better to rent a small trailer when we need to rather than a full on uhaul truck.

Just need to figure out the wiring thing and I'll be set, thanks everyone!

Just checked and I don't think I have the transmission cooler, or I just completely missed it. But as mentioned by most everyone before (wiring comes standard, but may not be operational), the wiring connector is in the rear and I did see that.
