My bad.

It wasn't a TDA charge it was a 250 Doc fee.

I had to pay a Doc Fee, Registration Fee and Tax and Tags.

I understand the Registration and Tax and Tag fee, but not the bogus Doc Fee that the dealer convinced me to pay, saying that everyone has to pay it.

Driving nicer cars in Georgia has been expensive proportionally depending on the price of the car and the county you live in. It's called the Ad Valorem tax that's paid each year when you renew your tag. It goes down slightly each year as the value of the car goes down.

But Georgia just passed a new law doing away with it that goes into effect next march (2013). http://www.11alive.com/news/article/...adds-title-tax Unfortunately those who have cars now or purchase before then will have to continue to pay the tax as long as they have the car. From the way it's written, I see some dealers really dropping prices on cars now and for the next year just to get sales as it will pay to wait. On a 50k purchase it's a one time fee (same as sales tax but no sales tax anymore) of 7% then no ad-valorem ever again. Might make me want to trade again after next March .
