Default ASL not working

Anyone else feel that the ASL does not keep up with increased noise when reaching highway speeds?

Yep.

It was a question on one of the Advisory Board surveys. Marked it way down as non-functional.

on the 2gen RX, there was an actual display on the radio screen that looked like a stepped ladder like the cell phone signal bars. It showed at what level ASL was working. It didnt work that well back then and it doesnt work well now, but at least I knew it was working back then

Agree, it does not work so well. I could tell in my SC430, as well as my RX400h that it's there, and the volume goes up some, but not nearly enough to compensate for increased ambient noise level. My personal opinion is if they would just add a sliding scale option for the user to set which helped the ASL know if it should apply "none" to "a lot" of increase based on noise level, the combination of the user's setting with the ASL would be just fine.

My experience with the ASL is completely different. I had to turn it off because it was too sensitive. Now, this was really noticeable when the sunroof was open. The volume would really go up. Try driving with the sunroof open and going over 40 miles an hour with the radio on, and then see if you notice any difference.

Mine doesn't work at all as far as I can tell. My husband's Harley has one on the stereo that works great! Wish the one on "Lana" worked as good as the one on the bike.

I can only tell it works when the windows are open.
Other times, no difference what so ever.

I think part of the problem is that the ASL works so seamlessly. I never actually hear it change but I never have to adjust the volume after getting off the freeway. I also never have to turn it up when getting on the freeway. Never tried it with the windows down or sunroof open, I'll have to try that out.

Perhaps that is my problem. I don't open the windows very often. Almost never on the highway.

Default ASL Doesn't work

The ASL on my 2013 350 does not work. One dealer said it was just the way it is. I persuaded a second dealer to replace the radio. No change. What a disappointment for a vehicle of this calibre. My daughter has a Chevvy Malibu and it works great. Hard to believe that Lexus can't figure it out.

Lexus has terrible radios. Follows along the path set by Toyota where they spend little on audio. I have an Infiniti as well and that radio is far better.

I had a '98 GMC pickup that had this feature and it included a separate **** that controller the amount of increase as the speed of the truck increased. It worked pretty well. It was also needed a lot more in the truck than in the RX.
