wiper problems !
My wipers turn on for no reason on clear dry days and it happens mostly on left turns.I have a 2011 RX350. Is anyone else having this problem?

Sounds like a bad ground or motor. Do you have the rain sensing wipers or no? If yes then the cause could be more difficult to trace. If you would have said it ONLY happens when making left turns then I would have asked if you aren't just hitting the wiper stalk by accident when turning the wheel. But since you said it mostly happens while making a left then I am assuming you aren't. Since it's a 2011 you are still under warranty so I would have the techs check it out.

If you have rain sensing wipers then this is a common problem. I don't know what Lexus did to the sensor but my 04 RX never had a problem and would only swipe when it sensed real rain. Now I am getting all kinds of false alarm swipes. The manual says that you should keep it in the off position and then turn it to auto when it rains.
If you dont have rain sensing wipers then that would be an interesting problem

Our auto wipers do random swipes. Seems to be worse in bright sunshine but also happens with partial clouds. I've complained to the dealer with no results - he says he can't duplicate it - I'm not asking him to duplicate it, I'm asking him to fix it. I don't know why we should pay for a feature that doesn't work so I'm still arguing with the dealer about it. I keep hoping somebody comes up with a fix.

I do not have the rain sensing feature on our 2011 RX. However, I do have in on our 2008 Cadillac CTS and they tell you to leave the feature off until in begins to rain. If it remains on all the time we occasionally experience a random wipe. So now we just turn it on as the rain starts to fall and have had no problem. Maybe the same holds true for the RX. Just a thought. What does the manual say about this, if anything?

No, I don't play soccer!
I know this topic has been discussed before. It hasn't happened on my '10. I have it on a lower setting because it is more sensitive. But no false wipe yet. The hyper wipe on turns does occur, only when it's raining though.

EUREKA!! Fixed it!
I have the automatic wipers - they were doing the oft reported random swipes. Mentioned it to the Service Manager on my last service visit - he said to rotate the stalk fully counter clockwise to the wide stripes. This is the control you use to vary the interval between swipes with the non-automatic wipers. In the automatic wipers, this same control regulates the sensitivity of the rain sensor. Makes sense. Since rotating it I've not had a single unwanted wiper swipe!
Big question for all the other so called "Service Managers" and the technicians who worked on my car at my dealership - how come you don't know this? I've reported it every time I've taken the car in for service and all I've ever heard is "we couldn't duplicate it". I guess the solution is to ask for a different Service Manager until (at last) you get one who knows what he is talking about!
