Default Just got back from 10k mile service

This is the last of the free appts. I know they did an oil change and will only be changed every 10k miles and will cost $239 I'm the future. So what is the purpose of the 5000 mile minor appts? They cost $79 and they just top fluids and rotate tires. Also, every 15k miles is a major service which runs $439. I can understand the $239 appts and maybe even the $439 ones but do we really need to go in for the$79 ones. Seems way too much service appts.

I can do the oil change and minor maintenance myself so I skip a lot of appointments.

For people who don't do their own car maintenance, the minor appts are useful b/c the repair shop can look for early signs of car troubles.
Most of the times, they'll tell you everything is fine and you paid $80 for the peace of mind.

That's why i bring our lexus vehicles to a Toyota Service Center.
i normally wait for the service so i don't really need or care for a Lexus loaner.

I've never paid for an oil and filter change and don't plan on starting now.

Hint .... get a Lexus Visa card and use it, you'll wind up with enough Lexus dealer credits to pay for all maintenance. I've never paid for oil changes or service on any of my Lexus'.

I use my lexus pursuits card only at the dealer and not anywhere else. When I bought my cars, I made sure to have them charge as much as possible on my Lexus card because it is 5 points for every dollar spend. Then I usually exchange out $50 of points at each service appt. and charge the rest to keep get some new points

I use My Lexus card for gas and car related stuff. Hopefully I'll have enough points to cover my 15k next month.

My (synthetic) oil changes are done at Walmart and cost about $54. When they are running specials is costs me about $38.

The price sounds good but is the work? You trust Walmart to change the 'internal' filter correctly ??? To me, that's a leap of faith.

I've gotten to know the guys there pretty well and so far I've had no problems. My husband used to go over the car when I picked it up figuring Walmart would cut corners and he found everything okay. I think developing a relationship is key.
