I brought our 2010 Rx450h to the dealership several months ago due to an occasional clicking noise in the upper steering column, behind the steering wheel area. The repetitive clicking was most noticeable at slower speeds while turning the steering wheel.

The dealership had the car for about 3 days saying it was a loose cable and then told me when I picked up the car, that sound was the way it was supposed to be, part of the electric assist steering. So the clicking noise continued.

Now the steering is getting stiffer. Some days much stiffer. This happens more when turning the wheel slowly.

Anyone have similar issues with the steering wheel and column?

my steering wheel has a sound too, especially during fast maneuvers but there is no clicking. also during fast maneuvers it gets very stiff

I am driving RX 450h 2011. I have rattling sound over bumpy road at low speed (10-20mph), and weird noise from the steering wheel. Dealership took my car for 5 days and two road-test drive. First, they told me was the losing parts, they told me it was fixed however noise still there after 5 days in service center. . Second attempt, an experience mechanics road test along with me, he told me the steering wheel column has to be replaced under warranty. Got my car today, it is fixed. However, my wheel alignment is off after they changed the steering column. Need to be in lexus service center again tomorrow. Tired of running back and forth just to solve this issue. My friend 's 2012 version has the similar problem.

In europe we have more problems with the steering colom from the rx450. It is always a tickking noise wiht the beginnig to turn
this is a problem wiht the bearing in the collom itself.
