When talking to Lexus Customer service today I asked them if a fix was in the works to increase the number of characters diplayed on the nav screen when in XM radio. I find it frustrating to get Artist names like "Jayzee featuring " or "The Rolling Ston" and similarly with Track Titles like "Dark side of the" . I used to think this may be an XM/Sirus limitation but my buddy's MADE IN KOREA Hyundai Santa Fe shows all the detail.

Lexus Customer Service made out that I am the first person to ever raise this and were kind of "suck it up, we get our systems from Pioneer so we get whatever they provide"

I am sure this is a really simple programming fix (just like Y2K ) but wonder if I really am the only person who has this issue or cares about it. Does anyone know if it is fixed on the 2011 RX350 or whether it exists across all Lexus vehicles?

If you care, please call Lexus and ask for a fix.....

It is frustratiing too as it doesn't scroll considering the fix # of characters, kinda stupid.

I have a 2011 RX350 with the 12 speaker system and it does the same thing. I own other cars that do it and I saw some high end after market CD,DVD,NAV,Bluetooth units that I am going to install in my 4-Runner and they do it also. Most give enough info so you can figure out what they are trying to tell you. I guess that is how it is.............

The same thing happened with the XM characters on my 2007 RX, and it's the same with my 2010 RX. Of course, I don't have the navigation model either, and I didn't have it on the previous RX.

Do you all have navigation models?

This issue is so far down the list of things to worry about that I never gave it any thought. I think my 2006 IS 350 has even fewer letters/digits but I don't think I ever had a situation that I couldn't figure out the details of the song. It's of no issue to me.

When on local radio mode, the text is displayed fully on 16 characters, but on xm, it seems it only displays half of that.

More likely, it's not a "bug" (the system doesn't perform to its designed specification), but it's a "deficiency" (the system performs to design specs, but the specs are deficient.)

If it's a "bug", then Lexus implemented badly. If it's a "deficiency", then Lexus designed it badly, which is worse.

I called Lexus. I believe the engineering design of the display is flawed and cannot be changed. It's disconcerting to only view up to 16 characters when up to 32 should be displayed. This error is not only in the RX 350, but also my 450h model. What should we except for a $45,000?

In addition, sometimes that next singer and song title is not displayed. I have to quickly turn the dial to another station, then back to the station I want in order to view the change.

You know what they should have. Since I have Navigation. While the song is playing I should be able to hit a button. And have the Album art work shown.

Im not sure if I am going to buy another new Lexus. If they cant get something this simple fixed.

For example it should be like my iPhone.

I have a 2009 Lexus RX 350 with Navigation and it limits the display to only 10 characters! I'd be happy with 16. However, they really should be able to display all, or scroll to see it all. I find it very annoying as well!

My wife's non-navigation Nissan clips off characters too.
