thanks so much for helping me out. You really have been vert responsive and helpful.

My sadness is big enough to explain... :-(. I bought RX350 last year hoping that it will be softest ever car driven by me. Before i had RX350 2nd generation.
Now i am planing to move into another softer car, i.e. ES350. many people say that ES 350 softer

You're welcome. Without such a response from you, we have no idea whether you're seeing the members' replies to your queries. If you weren't seeing them, then a lot of helpful forum members are wasting a lot of their precious time!

If you want a really soft ride look at the Toyota Avalon. You'll have all of the luxury that anyone needs. I know it's not a Lexus, but it is the next best thing. I have a 07 that outrides the 10 RX, but I know it is supposed to.

Meant to say something sooner. My 450h does not have both of those buttons, only the lower left one, and it is AWD.

I don't have access to a 350 manual, but looking on the on-line manual for the 450, the button Anita pointed out seems to have two functions. Pushing it once briefly turns off the TRAC or traction control (Quoting manual traction control, "Maintains drive power and helps to prevent any of the drive wheels from spinning when the vehicle is started or accelerated on a slippery road surface.") Pressing and holding that button for three seconds or longer turns off the VSC or vehicle stability control (Quoting manual vehicle stability control, "Helps the driver to control skidding when swerving suddenly or turning on slippery road surfaces.") Turning them off does turn on some icons in the display so you know they are off.

Again, this may not be relevant to the 350 and I have no clue on the other button.

As a side note, while looking around the 450 manual I saw the electronic power steering can overheat if your using it too much and will shut off to cool off making steering difficult. You can stop the car and let it cool off in about 10 minutes. Something else I didn't know.

(As another side note, is the 350 manual on the internet anywhere?)

So David, you don't have the upper right button either? I leave buttons like that alone since I manage fine in the snow, never been stuck, knock on wood.

My funny fact(s) from the manual, you are not supposed to clean the rear inside window to avoid damaging the defrosters. In another section it says to wipe the glass in a certain direction. And I did find a typo.

The left one is TRAC/VSC button. The right one is AWD button on RX350. AWD/HYBRID SNOW on RX450h can be switched on/off through instrument panel display.

I assume the 4th digit in the VIN # specifies an AWD (4 wheel) vs FWD (2 wheel) per the 2009 link on VIN #'s that was presented on the Club Lexus forum in 2010 (using the 2009 VIN spec sheet). Assume 2010/2011 coding would be similar, but not sure ; where B = AWD and G = FWD ?

i'm going to have to disagree with you here, and agree with kitlz. my 450h is an AWD, and i also do not have the lower right side switch either (as shown in the picture posted by papaalex). see the price list that my lexus dealer gave me, it clearly says AWD at the top.

another thing: my lexus salesman told me that if i ever have to have the 450h towed, make sure that it is not towed by the front wheels only (ie: front lifted up and towed with rear wheels in contact with the ground; it should be towed by a platform tow truck or rear wheels supported by separate tow wheels from the tow truck). this would not make sense if my 450h was only front wheel drive.

thank you for posting the pdf file. i can now confirm that my RX450h IS indeed AWD.

the first 4 alpha numeric vin for my RX450h is:

JTJB....

J - made in japan
T - made by lexus
J - multipurpose passenger vehicle
B - under multipurpose passenger vehicle category, 5DR wagon 4WD

so you don't need that AWD switch to determine if you are AWD or not. only way to tell for sure is to check the VIN and compare to vin system identification, as both kitlz and i are AWD but don't have that AWD switch.

both you and pasi are saying the same thing. The 350 is the only one with the awd lock button next to the trac button. The RX450h in either FWD or AWD does not that any button there. Instead, when you go into snow mode through the instrument display, it uses more awd when accelerating.
