Default LED fog, parking, DRL done

Just got a 2011 RX350 AWD for my wife (for $2500 under invoice!) and decided to change the lights to LEDs. My wife could care less but I mod the hell out of my cars so I couldn't resist. One thing is for sure, the light options seem so much easier to do on a Lexus than they are on my 2008 BMW M3. The electronics on the BMW are so finicky and not so plug-n-play friendly. The RX was a breeze to do. Took all of 15 minutes. Purchased the bulbs from vleds.com

On a side note, I had ordered a 2011 BMW X5 35i and was really bummed when my wife decided she wanted the RX instead. The X5 drives and handles so well. However, I have to say the RX is more comfortable, and the Nav/multimedia setup is far superior. I'm pleasantly surprised. Besides, when I feel the need to rip around, that's what the M3 is for...

Those are great pics! Did you use a decoder for the DRL's?

Thanks. The fogs are really bright. Don't see any need to get HID fogs which was my original plan.

I did not use a decoder. Just plugged the bulbs right in. These are the bulbs I used.

nice work, i didnt realize that the LED fogs are also bright compared to stock.

Although I still used HIDs on mine just to match it with the BiXenon HIDs

how do you pick between 5k and 6k? Did the 5k color match up better against the stock xenons?

You have to remove the bumper to install the fog LED? How did you do it?

No. Just reach in from underneath for the fogs. I think I went underneath for the driver side, and went from the engine bay for the passenger side, but I can't remember. It went so fast. I'm going to do all the lights again for a friend's RX350 so I'll try to remember.

The only change I would make is to use a different bulb for the parking light.

These are much brighter (someone else posted this) $19.99

I bought these which are not very bright $7.99

As far as the color, the 5K are a little whiter than the stock HID headlights. 6K will be a little more bluish and be even more of a mismatch for the stock HID headlights.

When I do my friends RX, I'll try to replace all three lights on one side and take a comparison picture.

I was able to access both fog lights from the top thru' the hood. Accessing from the bottom seemed harder. I used these and they are not bright enough for me. Wish I went with HIDs instead.

That LED bulb looks bright on the pics posted above but of course comparing it to HIDs it wont be as bright

Too funny Evant! Your RX looks cross eyed in the first picture I might try LED fogs to go with my LED headlights for a better match when the weather gets a little warmer. Just not sure how bright they'll be compared to the 6K HIDS I have in there now.

Looks great!
