Just returned from a road trip to Texas and back to Wisconsin.

When we started the RX had 439 miles on it and when we returned it had 3344 miles.

Here is the mileage at each fill up from when we got it to 3084 miles.

@ 173 18.4 mpg
@ 439 19.7 mpg
@ 625 21.1 mpg
@ 895 20.1 mpg
@ 1193 20.4 mpg
@ 1399 19.6 mpg
@ 1513 19.5 mpg
@ 1745 20.3 mpg
@ 2036 21.6 mpg
@ 2308 24.2 mpg
@ 2649 22.2 mpg
@ 2869 21.5 mpg
@ 3084 21.7 mpg

On the way down to Texas we had mostly rain and a lot of wind, probably missed a few tornado's in St Louis and could barely see out of the windshield in the heavy rain. The way back was pretty boring weather wise, just some gusty winds once we hit Oklahoma.
The RX ran great....

I'm anticipating that once my Wife gets into Her normal work routine we'll see consistent 15-16 mpg. That's what she used to get on her 06 Acura TL but the TL would get 27-30 mpg on the interstate

My experience; for first time I used regular unleaded on RX [accidentally] instead of the premium and my MPG dropped from 20MPG to 18MPG. same commute and same type of driving so when I did the calculation of price differences, it evens out. Following two fill-up with premium, 20-21 MPG returned. for me only premium on RX.

Just hit 3600 miles and the MPG went to 23.1 with the AC on for the first time this last trip but seems to be happy at around 22ish most of the time. Same trip to the Bay Area from Roseville. So far so good.

In real life, assume you drive around 70-75mph on highway..you are more likely to see 20mph combine for awd and 21mph for fwd..
the best Audi Q7 / Audi 3.0 liter TFSI V6 engine announcing 16/22 MPG and it calls very safe...
the RX i guess must be around that too, well at least 20 or so... !

but wondering, who drives it with 89, ///
at least 95 or higher... ! that's a MUST!
i will kill your engine, mister! - switch to 95 at least asap.
don't play with that number ...

Am I the only one who has been somewhat dissapointed with the MPG on the RX350? I may have been spoiled by or ES350 though. The ES had a rating of 28 MPG hwy and we consistently averaged about 31+ on our trips.

With our RX, the best we've gotten hwy is 23+. I was sort of expecting to average a little more than estimated as I have a really "light foot". Even my '01 Grand Cherokee still gives me 20+ and it has over 120,000 miles on it. Not bad for a vehicle that was rated at 21 hwy and at times gave me over 25.

I can live with it as the RX is by far the best overall vehicle we've owned but I am still dissapointed.

450h. Now approaching 8K miles, but with the warm weather (add possibly better bvroken in because of the mileage) am getting 31-32 with a variety of driving - hills, highways, dirt and gravel roads, seconary roads, etc. During the winter I was getting 29+

In the RX I average around 21 highway. I've never seen it past 22. That's acceptable IMO but could be a little better.

I am O.K. with the 23 mpg I get at times. I'd be happy if it was consistent. All I'm asking is where do they get these inflated numbers? Trust me when I say that if I don't get what is claimed then I don't see how anyone can. My driving habbits are as simple as you can get.

The RX is my wife's daily driver and I use our '01 Grand Cherokee. My GC gives me the rated 16 city that was on the sticker. Rmember, that SUV has 120,000 miles on it.

All I'm saying is that auto manufacturers should be held accountable for their claims. I know driving conditions, habbits, etc. play a part in what you actually get but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Default 78 MPG = 3 lieters/100 km BMW M5 fuel consumption

well, i was fine with my own 23 to 26mpg, - then seen that the site with a video,...
has convert that BMW consumption 2.2 - 3 liters/100 km and becomes 78mpg, -

the engine must be the same volume and the power at the same range, ...
so now i am hardly disappointed with my 23/26...
