I get 15-16mpg in the city. Keep in mind that is in LA where the average speed around town is like 12mph. You typically spend more time stopped in traffic than actually moving. That said, the fuel economy in the RX, well, sucks. That was the one thing that made me wish I had gotten an X5 diesel. My friend's gets so much better gas mileage than our RX.

Well the trip turned out to be 1591 miles to Houston and back with a lot of shopping trips while there. My 10 RX now has 4493 miles on it and we averaged 22.31 mpg for the trip. We drove around 75 mph on the interstates. My other car is an 07 Avalon which we've gone to Houston in before, and I can honestly say that the RX was a pleasant surprise. The ride, handling, and comfort made it a much more enjoyable trip.
P.S. I've only used 89 octane gasoline.

Driving my new RX and still in "break-in" period. Have 294 miles and average 19.4mpg thus far. Mix of 50% hwy (avg speed 65mph) and 50% city driving (avg. speed 25mph). Dealer told me mpg will improve after 5k mile "break-in" period. I use Premium gas (92+ octane) exclusively.

Now that it has warmed up again in WI. my last tank gave me right around 24 MPG & I have 44K on my RX. This is about 60% highway 40% small town driving.

got 28.3 on my last tank of over 400 miles. that was 85% highway driving 55mph commuting to work. i've made numerous complaints in this forum about my rx, but the mpg makes up for many of them. it's still amazing a 2ton suv w/ a 6cyl can be that fuel efficient

Update On Gas Mileage
My 2011 now has about 2800 miles. Just made a 1500 mile drive in cold climate. Have consulted with a couple dealerships about the poor mileage I've been getting. They told me that, yes, there is a break in period of 2000-5000 miles in which the computer slowly starts to do it's thing and will improve the mileage. I should be using premium gasoline that is non-ethenol (pretty hard to find non-ethenol gas these days). They insisted the mileage will improve. During this last trip of using premium gas, I was getting 17-17.5 mpg......except......for about 2 hours one day where it was between 20 and 23 mpg! Very weird....then the mileage went back down to 17 ish. Guess the computer changed it's mind.

We just picked up a new 2011 RX350 a couple weeks ago with only 3 miles on it and driving from Sac to the Bay Area right out of the box it got 19.1 MPG. The next trip there it got 21.7 MPG. This past week making the same trip it went up to 22.3 MPG. This is taking the exact same route and pretty much the traffic was the same. So far it is heading in the right direction. All fuel was Chevron Premium.

Took the RX 350 on a 900 mile road trip last weekend...
Averaged about 22.5 MPG for the entire trip...mostly doing 75-85 MPH.
The best mileage was 24.7MPG for the first 120 miles...about 65-75 MPH.
Few other observations...
• Could have used additional storage between front seats by the shifter.
• 4-5 more gallons of gas would have been helpful...~350 mile range wasn't enough.
• Very comfortable seats.
• 90+ MPH felt like 60MPH.
