Default Plastic Door Edge Guards

I recently found out that Lexus does not offer body painted door edge guards, or even non painted ones for that matter. What has everyone else done in response to this? Is there somewhere to pick some of these up? Pictures please if you have picked some up.

While in for service, I wondered around and saw the newer models have the edge wrapped with "paint protection film". Since transparent, almost invisible.

Or perhaps this is what you were talking about?

That set up would be awful for dirt lines being seen on the protective film edges along the whole door.Especially on a light color.

I had that done when I had my clear bra installed. Can't see any lines unless you are right up on the car, but then again I have a black RX.

I am not talking abot a film. I am talking about actual body colored plastic door edge guards that help from dinging other doors as well as prtecting from chipping on your own. Lexus apparently doesnt sell them, although I think Toyota does. Go figure.

I've never seen them and they weren't on the previous models. Truthfully it isn't an issue. Mine never chipped--even on my '99 which we still have.

You are correct. I am wanting some not necessarily to protect against chipping as the previous poster mentioned was not an issue, but to protect my car as the RX is my wifes car and I constantly get door dings and creases when her door finds the side of my car in the garage.....

I just received and installed the Cowley 3/8" edge guard (black) that I got from Amazon for $12.
Amazon Amazon
It looks really good on my Granite Mica. Almost, looks like its part of the black window moldings etc. In fact, this was 18ft long and I got it to work for my Rx and the other car as well. I am glad I chose this over the OEM $80 one's...

Default Door edge guards

You can order door edge guards (matched to your color) from Sewell. Not a bad price, either.

Does it stick to the door? Will it peel off easy? I think the OEM has adhesive tape to secure it into the door.

Inside the U it has an adhesive. I think it would stay fine even without the adhesive but its there... I felt the oem $60 was expensive for edge guards and I also like black on my mica...
